Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Rodney gives Del a father's day card.

Answer: True

Del and Rodney are in the pub, with the rain teeming outside. Rodney presents the card to lighten the mood a little, causing Del a minor panic that he may have fathered a child without knowing.
2. What is the name of the travel agent?

Answer: Alex

Del meets Alex in the pub. Alex complains that business is down, and that he has thousands of pounds of holidays not being used. Del suggests offering a promotion whereby the very next customer gets an 80% reduction to draw in custom. Del being Del, he makes sure he is the one to benefit from the offer.
3. Del did not originally book Granddad on the holiday.

Answer: True

Del returns to the flat with brochures and tells Rodney and Granddad he's booked a holiday. Granddad automatically thinks the holiday is for all three of them, and neither Del nor Rodney have the heart to tell him otherwise. Del ends up calling Alex to add Granddad to the booking.
4. Where do the Trotters go on holiday?

Answer: Spain

The holiday is in Benidorm. Production costs did not allow the episode to actually be shot in Spain, and so Bournemouth beach was used instead.
5. Del and Rodney take two ladies back to their hotel room, where they spend the night.

Answer: False

In actual fact, the ladies are completely turned off at sight of Granddad sleeping in the room with his false teeth in a glass of water beside the bed. They walk off, with Del and Rodney chasing after them.
6. What does Rodney put on Del's back?

Answer: Lager

Del, Rodney and Granddad are at the beach. Granddad decides to go back to the hotel. Del and Rodney are discussing how Granddad seems a bit distracted. Del asks Rodney to put some sunscreen on his back, but Rodney is not paying attention and pours lager over Del instead.
7. Del meets a French lady at the bar.

Answer: False

A lady approaches the bar and accidentally bumps into another lady. The exchange their apologies in French, and Del sees this as an opportunity to use his own misguided prowess in the language to impress. When he strikes up a conversation, it is clear he is out of his depth.

When the lady is heading back to her seat, she joins another man to save herself from Del, and it turns out she is actually English.
8. What does Del use to burst the inflatable chair?

Answer: Cigar

Del has bought drinks for himself and the "French" lady, who is now sitting with her male companion. This gentleman stands up and is considerably taller than Del. He takes the drinks from Del, saying "Thank you, waiter". As he sits back down, Del burns a hole in his inflatable chair with his cigar, causing him to fall backwards.
9. During which war was Granddad deported for gun running?

Answer: Spanish Civil War

Granddad has been arrested, and believes it is because he was deported from Spain for gun running. He tells Del and Rodney a very long winded story about how he and his friend, Nobby, tried to join the French Foreign Legion in 1936, but were rejected. They then bumped into a friend who offered them a job selling guns.

Rodney: "You mean you were gun running in the middle of a civil war?"
Granddad: "That's the best time to do it...We didn't do it purely for financial gain. We both felt a deep commitment to a political cause."
Del: "Which side were you selling to?"
Granddad: "Well, whichever side had the most money."
10. What was Granddad arrested for?

Answer: Crossing the road

After telling Del and Rodney his epic saga about his gun running days, a guard enters the cell. Del offers him a bribe, which he accepts, before issuing Granddad's release papers, which had already been signed. He had been charged with jaywalking.

Rodney: "I suppose we'd better stop off at a drug store and get something for granddad's cuts and bruises."
Granddad: "I ain't got no cuts and bruises."
Del: "It's early yet."
