Answer: To look at a comet

Ross has got the gang onto the roof to see the (fictional) Bapstein King comet. Later in the episode Joey refers to it as the "Burger King comet".

Joey grabs the pipe to use it as a telescope when Ross asks him where the hot girls are that Joey has been looking at from the roof. When Joey removes the pipe the door shuts trapping him and Ross on the roof.

Monica is annoyed because she is trying to sleep but Chandler keeps waking her up as he can't sleep.

After Joey traps them on the roof, they try calling for help but no one hears them so they decide that the only thing they can do is climb down the fire escape.

We see Phoebe carefully examining the wires in the smoke detector as though she is looking for a way to stop the beeping before she decides the best thing to do is to hit it with a shoe. However rather than stopping the beeping this makes the smoke alarm make a high pitched continuous beep.

Rachel says that she gave the contracts to Tag but he says she didn't. In order to prove who is right they go to the office to look for them where Rachel finds them on her desk.

There is an ongoing joke in this episode about Tag pretending to make phone calls with his crotch - something that Rachel can't see the funny side of. In order to try to work out why it's funny, she pretends to make a phone call with her breasts but she still doesn't get the joke.

When climbing down the fire escape, Ross and Joey reach a ladder which is stuck meaning they cannot go any further. They are stuck outside the window of an apartment which they consider breaking in order to get off the fire escape. However when Ross taps on it a large dog starts barking on the other side of it so they decide not to break it.

Because she can't stop it beeping, Phoebe decides to get rid of the smoke detector by putting it in the trash chute. As she drops it in the chute she says, "OK, this is where you and I part ways".

Chandler is annoyed with Monica because she fell asleep while they were having sex and he was giving her his "best moves".

The fire fighter returns Phoebe's smoke alarm and tells her she must reattach it because it is illegal to remove them. He also tells her that to stop it beeping, she needs to press the reset button under the case.

After the fire fighter leaves, Phoebe looks for the reset button but she is unable to use it because it broke off when she hit the smoke detector with her shoe.

Answer: "My pants are starting to come down and I'm not wearing any underwear"

When the fire escape gets stuck they decide that Ross should climb down Joey so that he is nearer the ground when he jumps but Ross gets scared and doesn't let go until Joey tells him about his pants falling down!

Answer: Clean the living room

At the end of the episode Monica says she has to be up in seven minutes. Chandler suggests that they use that seven minutes, implying they should have sex. Monica decides he means clean the living room, telling him, "You get the vacuum cleaner and I'll get the furniture polish!"
