However, when he realizes he's talking to Penny without a beer, he feels much much better. But then he overcompensates by talking in front of the women too much.

This episode marks the point where I officially decided I do not like Bernadette.

However, after Leonard reminds Penny that she owes him a favor from the pilot episode, Penny goes to Howard's house and tries to make him feel better. This works too well, as Howard tries an unsolicited kiss. She punches him in the face.

Leonard and Penny get married in season nine, but they don't live together alone because they don't want to hurt their friend Sheldon. So, Penny moves to Sheldon and Leonard's apartment.
