1. On Omaha Beach (mission #1, part 1), how many men must reach the shingle alive?

Answer: 25

This mission is, in many ways, very true to life. Allied bombing in the Omaha Beach area failed to significantly disable German defenses, which meant that arriving allied soldiers had to weave up the beach against accurately placed machine-gun emplacements and pre-calibrated mortars. It was a slaughter, and no mistake.
2. How many seconds does it take an Allied grenade to explode after it hits the ground?

Answer: Less than 1.2

Grenades explode rather quickly, although often this is still a bit too long, which is why they are best thrown against enemy units who cannot quickly run away from the blast, like Machine Gunners or Pinned infantry. Satchel charges (thrown by Airborne troops but also Engineers in the first mission) take much longer to explode, but cause much more devastation.

They are used primarily against buildings. "Sticky bombs", used by Allied Riflemen, also take a long time to explode, but remain attached to the vehicle at which they were thrown, so it's not much of an issue.
3. Which two kinds of Allied infantry can "Fire up" to move quicker and lessen the effect of suppression?

Answer: Airborne and Rangers

A useful tactic is to "Fire Up" before throwing a satchel charge into a building (with Airborne) or a grenade at an enemy machine gun, then run away before the grenade explodes. This minimizes damage taken while storming the objective, and is very useful in mission #3 (Carentan) where many buildings must be demolished this way.
4. Mines will explode if ANY enemy passes over them.

Answer: True

In reality, mines are usually type-specific, meaning that some mines are designed to be activated by infantry, others to activate only under heavier vehicles (and some mines are designed specifically against tanks). This was inaccurately represented in the game, for an arguably good reason of simplifying the process of minelaying. Enemies passing over mines will therefore always trigger them, which can be very frustrating if you've mined a road, expecting panzers to roll over it, when suddenly a bunch of enemy Volksgrenadiers run across the whole minefield, destroying valuable work...
5. How much does an air bombardment cost?

Answer: 250 Munitions

Airstrikes are a very valuable weapon for the Airborne Commander. They have their advantages and disadvantages over Calliope and Off-map artillery which is available to other company commanders, but for the most part they are rather devastating if you can afford the cost, especially in campaign maps where they are available (Mission #7, the V2 rocket site, comes to mind). Preceded with a Recon flight if necessary (costing 50 Munitions), a P-47 can attack anywhere on the map, and the rockets can cause massive damage, especially to buildings.

The location of the hits is much more controlled than artillery too, although planes can get shot down by a well-prepared enemy. However, even a bunch of flak-88s, in today's patch 1.4, aren't good enough to consistently stop these strikes.
6. What is the only upgrade available for the Allied Halftrack?

Answer: Quad .50cal cannons

An easy question to anyone who's played a mission with Halftracks. This quad-anti-aircraft-cannon is extremely useful against enemy vehicles, although these would also fire back at the halftrack, causing damage. Alternatively, it can be used rather effectively to pin down enemy infantry, although it is often necessary to have a second unit (preferably your own infantry) to finish them off while they cower.

The AA is loud, but not accurate enough to wipe out an enemy squad as quickly as heavy machine-guns do. Trucks can reinforce nearby infantry without requiring any upgrades.

This is still possible with a Quad installed, but the truck loses its ability to transport troops.
7. During the incursion into St. Fromond, what event/action does NOT trigger the enemy counterattack?

Answer: Letting too much time pass before crossing the bridge into town

Yes, it's true, you can have your troops waiting on your side of the bridge for as long as you may want. This opens up a slight cheat/trick, where you can not only gather a huge amount of resources, but can also send units across the bridge and back, one by one, to gain experience by killing off German patrols on the other side. With all units "leveled up", the rest of the mission becomes much less daunting.
8. Medal question: A unit of which type must be "leveled up" to elite status to win a medal in one of the missions?

Answer: Rangers

Rangers are the Allies' ultimate anti-vehicle infantry, and with their SMG upgrade can decimate an enemy infantry squad, if attacked from a short range. A team of at least three Rangers can be equipped with three Bazooka/Panzershrek anti-tank rockets, which are easily enough to destroy enemy light- and medium-size vehicles, including even the Panzer IV, if the Rangers manage to flank it properly. Against stronger German tanks, the Panther and Tiger, an extremely courageous Sherman (or two, or more) would need to draw fire first, allowing the Rangers to flank the beast and fire repeatedly at its rear. Certainly not for the light-hearted.
9. From the German Point of View: German troops don't attain veterancy in the same way that Allied troops do. How do German troops attain Veterancy?

Answer: Veterancy is purchased as upgrades at the Axis headquarters, like the BAR is purchased for allied riflemen

Many players complain about German Veterancy, as it costs a lot of resources to get units to proper fighting capability, while their Allied counterparts get veterancy simply for killing German units! Other players commend this, because after having paid, German structures produce higher-end units straight away, so even German elites become expendable in a way.

However, at its present cost, and the fact that veterancy must be purchased for Infantry, Support, Vehicles and Tanks separately, most Axis players often opt to spend their hard-earned resources on churning out more troops instead.
10. Rocket launchers: Which of these is not an advantage that the Calliope has over the Nebelwerfer?

Answer: The Calliope is cheaper to build

The Calliope is a Sherman tank with a raft-like multiple-barrel rocket-launcher attached on top of its turret. The tank fires a salvo of rockets at the target, causing devastation in a wide radius. Nebelwerfers are 6-barrelled rocket-launchers that function in a similar way to howitzer artillery, firing one rocket after the other in a ballistic trajectory, the rockets eventually landing as artillery shells on the target.

The Calliope's biggest advantage is that it is a Sherman tank, with all which that implies, including armor, tracks, and a tank's cannon and coaxial machine gun.

The Nebelwerfer is simply mounted on a slow-moving wheeled carriage and cannot unfortunately be hitched to vehicles for faster movement. Also, with its crew exposed next to the weapon, they can easily be killed and the weapon can then be captured by Allied infantry. On the other hand, the Nebelwerfer is available for the Axis side normally through its medium-support structure, and is hardly expensive to produce. To produce a Calliope, The Allies must first place valuable command points in the Armor Company tree (so, it is unavailable for Airborne and Infantry commanders), and then pay a hefty sum of resources and popcap points just to build one Calliope tank.

Armor Skirts are purchased individually for each M8 Greyhound Armoured Car at a cost of 75 Munitions. The other choices are all upgrades you can purchase at a base which apply immediately to all units in the field and all new units produced later. The grenade upgrade is only purchaseable in Skirmish mode - During the campaign it is given free to the Allied player, and only costs the normal 25 munitions each time it is actually used.
12. On the difference between Axis Grenadiers and VolksGrenadiers: Which of the following statements is false?

Answer: Unlike Grenadiers, the VolksGrenadiers cannot grab anti-tank rocket launchers

There are also many other differences between the two units, which to the less-experienced Allied Player may often seem confusingly similar. The truth is, Allied troops aren't all that different from one another either, but it's the little differences that count. For instance, VolksGrenadiers can actually Camouflage themselves, as snipers do...

Fortunately for the Allied player, it cannot. Unfortunately for the Axis player, it means that this Allied unit can reinforce inside Axis territory without having to run back to their HQ.

Answer: 0

A trick question - Barbed wire is free! Barbed wire is great for stopping infantry. No infantry except Engineers can pass through, and even Engineers first need to cut the fence, using wire cutters which (in skirmish mode) require an upgrade to first be purchased at the base.

However, vehicles can zoom through it like it wasn't there, so it is customary to build a line of tank-traps right in front of the barbed wire. Since vehicles can't pass the tank traps, it prevents them from destroying the barbed wire fence.

Hence, the enemy must use Engineers to cut the barbed wire if he wants to get infantry through. Note however, that heavy tanks, and also a Crocodile fitted with a bulldozer upgrade, can ram through tank traps unimpeded...
15. Lastly, one more unit comparison. Which of the following statements about the difference between Allied Enginners and Axis Pioneers is false?

Answer: Axis Pioneers are upgraded with SMGs instead of Flamethrowers

Yup, there are several key differences between the two, which unfortunately puts Axis Pioneers at a disadvantage. However, German pioneers are arguably more useful because the bunkers they build can be converted into permanent repair-points where vehicles can park to automatically repair themselves.

This makes the Axis Pioneers less of an absolute-must in the front lines when vehicles are abound. The Allies, on the other hand, often need to keep their Engineers rolling along with the tanks, which makes them vulnerable to enemy fire.

It's a good thing then, that they are more resilient.
