Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where does the player first take control of Harry?

Answer: Hogwarts

The video game begins with an introduction of Harry and provides the player with his history. Harry arrives at Hogwarts and after the opening feast, Harry heads into entrance hall. After a brief meeting with Dumbledore, the player is able to take control of Harry and explore Hogwarts and participate in challenges and other adventures.
2. Where do Fred and George provide Harry with his first wizard card?

Answer: library

Fred and George lead Harry into the library for a secret lesson. This includes climbing over bookcases, jumping onto bookcases, and jumping over gaps. This is a tutorial lesson that allows the player to get familiar with the controls used in the game. During this lesson, Harry is able to collect Bertie Bott's Every Flavored Beans.

After collecting twenty-five beans, Harry can give them to Fred and George for a wizard card. On that card is a picture of Albus Dumbledore, then-current headmaster of Hogwarts.
3. What is the first class Harry takes during the game?

Answer: Defense Against the Dark Arts

After Fred and George give Harry a secret lesson, they provide a shortcut so that Harry can get to his first lesson, Defense Against the Dark Arts with Professor Quirrell. In this lesson, Harry is being taught the Flipendo spell. The spell is used to move objects and operate switches. To practice, Harry must trace the design shown on the screen. If he's at least 50% accurate, he will receive five house points for Gryffindor. If not, the tutorial ends but the game continues with Professor Quirrell's Flipendo challenge.

This same thing happens three more times. Each time the accuracy percentage increases as does the number of house points Harry receives, assuming he exceeds the percentage. During the Flipendo challenge, Harry is able to not only use the spell he learned but also collect wizard cards, chocolate frogs (which increases Harry's stamina), and challenge stars (collecting all challenge stars in a particular challenge allows Harry to access a secret room in Hogwarts).
4. While participating in the flying lesson, Harry is able to collect a wizard card. Who is on that card?

Answer: Merlin

At Harry's flying lesson, the instructor, Madam Hooch, has Harry fly through rings. Flying through rings earns points, and if Harry scores enough points, the player gets to continue the game. Otherwise, the flying lesson is repeated.
During the lesson, there is a Hogwarts symbol on the side of a building. If Harry goes through it, he will be in a secret room. In that secret room, there is a wizard card (and some collectible beans). On that card is Merlin. This is the only time it's available, so if Harry completes the flying lesson without getting the card, he can't go back and collect it. According to Madam Hooch, Harry is the first person to find the secret room since 1867.
Altogether there are 25 wizard cards, each with a witch or wizard on it, including the other three choices to this question.
5. Which student awards house points to Gryffindor?

Answer: Hermione Granger

Prior to attending Charms class, Harry meets Hermione who teaches Harry a spell she learned: Alohomora (a spell that can be used to unlock doors). Similar to when Harry learns other spells, he can practice the spell up to four times. If Harry reaches a certain percentage, Hermione awards house points.

Her reasoning is that she is sure that Professor Flitwick the Charms teacher would award Harry points for his attempts; therefore, she will do likewise.
6. What does Hagrid need fire seeds for?

Answer: helping his dragon be hatched

Hagrid has a dragon egg that is about to hatch, but he needs some fire seeds to help it along. Since he can't leave the egg alone, Hagrid asks Harry to collect the fire seeds. Harry must travel to a cave near Hagrid's hut and collect as many fire seeds as he can. Once Harry returns to Hagrid and places the fire seeds in the fire, Hagrid thanks him by giving him a wizard card with a picture of Salazar Slytherin on it. Hagrid also gives Harry a flute, which will prove useful later in the game.
7. Against which houses does Gryffindor play a Quidditch match?

Answer: Slytherin and Ravenclaw

Gryffindor has its first match against Slytherin and its second match against Ravenclaw. To win the match, Harry must catch the Golden Snitch while avoiding other players and the two Bludgers. Unlike in the book and movie version of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", Harry's broom is not jinxed. Also, unlike the book in which the second match takes place after Christmas, the match against Ravenclaw happens before Christmas but after the troll attack at Hogwarts.
8. What happens if Filch catches Harry sneaking around in the library or the Astronomy Tower late at night?

Answer: Harry has to start over from the last saved place

After receiving the Invisibility Cloak as a Christmas present and convincing Hagrid to give up his pet dragon Norbert, Harry decides to send Norbert away. Harry uses the Invisibility Cloak to take Norbert to the top of the Astronomy Tower via the library.

At the top of the tower, Ron's older bother, Charlie Weasley, awaits to take Norbert to Romania. However, Filch and his cat, Mrs. Norris, are patrolling the library. If Harry runs into Filch or Mrs. Norris, the game starts over from the last saved place in the mission. If Harry is close to the object that he casts a spell on, then Filch will catch Harry and the game starts over from the last saved place.

Therefore, Harry must be a safe distance away from an object on which he wishes to use a spell.
9. Harry, Hermione, and Ron must stop Quirrell (who is working for Voldemort) from obtaining the Sorcerer's Stone. This is done by performing several tasks. Which is not one of those tasks?

Answer: fight a troll

After reaching the third floor corridor, the first obstacle Harry, Hermione, and Ron encounter is Fluffy, a three-headed dog. Harry must use the flute Hagrid gave him earlier in the game to put all the three heads to sleep.
The second obstacle is a plant called Devil's Snare, which traps Hermione and Ron. Harry must use the spell Incendio to light the Devil's Snare on fire, releasing Hermione and Ron.
Third, Harry must put his Quidditch skills to good use by flying on a broom and catching a flying key which will unlock a door.
Fourth, Harry must finish a game that Ron started before he injured himself. Each piece can only move one square at a time, and if two pieces are on the same spot, they attack each other and both are destroyed. Harry must be the last piece on the board.
After that, Harry and Hermione go into a chamber that contains six potions, only one of which will allow Harry to pass through the flames on the other side.
Hermione returns to help Ron and get assistance from Dumbledore, but Harry must continue to the next task. Harry must move blocks, so he can reach a raised platform. It is on this platform that Professor Quirrell is trying to stop Harry from completing this particular task.
Finally, Harry goes to the final chamber where he must fight Quirrell and Voldemort by using the Mirror of Erised to deflect Voldemort's spells.
Nowhere in these tasks must Harry fight a troll. However, he did fight one at Christmas.
10. Does Peeves appear in the game?

Answer: Yes

Harry first meets Peeves when he is getting his tutorial from Fred and George. At this point in the games, Peeves merely appears and insults Harry. Nothing needs to be done to defeat him. Later in the game, Harry will need to cast the Flipendo spell multiple times to get rid of Peeves.

Some of these instances are during Professor Flitwick's challenge, Professor Quirrell's challenge, and after Harry sneaks through the library but before Harry gets to the Astronomy Tower.
