Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many opponents were in the original arcade "Punch-Out"?

Answer: Six

These original six were, in order, Glass Joe, Piston Hurricane, Bald Bull, Kid Quick, Pizza Pasta, and Mr. Sandman. Pizza Pasta never returned since, and it's rumored that Kid Quick was supposed to return, but had been altered so much Nintendo had to rename him. Thus, Disco Kid made his "Punch-Out" debut.
2. How do you beat Piston Honda 2 with only one knockdown in the NES "Punch-Out!!"?

Answer: Body blow counter before Bonsai Attack

Though some gamers have found ways to beat Honda 2 before the 1:00 Bonsai Attack, the simplest way is to not take a hit for that minute, then a right body blow counter before he unleashed his attack It can be done anytime he does this, and you have four opportunities (twice in rd. 1, once in rd. 2, and once in rd. 3).
3. Was there an official end to either arcade "Punch-Out"?

Answer: No

Both games looped through Title Defense until you lost twice (you got one continue to use after the first loss). As in the Wii "Punch-Out", opponents became harder in the Title Defense fights.
4. What happened if time ran out in the arcade "Punch-Out"?

Answer: Automatic loss

There was no decision in the arcade games; if time ran out, you lost, but it wasn't game over unless you used up your continue. There was no way to lose points, either.
5. Who held the WVBA title in the arcade "Super Punch-Out!!"?

Answer: Super Macho Man

Vodka Drunkenski was the only other opponent even in that game. Sandman was the first "Punch-Out" WVBA champion, with Bald Bull ranked #5. Vodka Drunkensi was renamed Soda Popinski and given an addiction to soda in his NES "Punch-Out" return to remove the drunk Russian stereotype.
6. How many circuits were there in Super Punch-Out (SNES)?

Answer: Four

They were the Minor, Major, World, and Special Circuits. You could only access the Special Circuit by going undefeated in the first three and not using a Game Genie cheat. Of course, if you did use a cheat, then there was a cheat to cancel.
7. Who appeared in the most games in the series as of the Wii "Punch-Out!!"?

Answer: Bald Bull

Bald Bull was in five: arcade "Punch-Out", "Arm Wrestling" as Mask X, and all three home console "Punch-Out" games. Macho Man and Sandman appeared in four, and Glass Joe was in three. Not even Little Mac has made as many appearances!
8. The code 265 431 7638 took you to the Dream Fight in "Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!".

Answer: True

This code got you to the Dream Fight with a record identical to Iron Mike's: 31-0 (27 KO). The most commonly used, however, was 007 373 5963, which pitted you against Kid Dynamite with an 0-2 (0 KO) record.
9. Which of the following wasn't in the Special Circuit in "Super Punch-Out!!" (SNES)?

Answer: Aran Ryan

Aran Ryan was the #3 World Circuit contender. Narcis Prince was the #3 Special Circuit contender, Hoy Quarlow was #2, and Rick Bruiser was the #1 contender for his brother's title. Ryan returned in the Wii "Punch-Out," but the other three had yet to show their faces in the ring again.
10. In "Super Punch-Out!!" for the SNES, how many opponents from the NES "Punch-Out!!" returned?

Answer: Three

Only three: Bald Bull, the Minor Circuit champion, Mr. Sandman, the Major Circuit titleholder, and Super Macho Man, the World Circuit king. Every single other opponent didn't appear in the previous installment, and other than those listed above, Piston Hurricane, Dragon Chan, and Bear Hugger were the only opponents to have appeared in a "Punch-Out" game before.
