The nominees for the 2010 R&R HOF class were announced earlier. They are (in no particular order):

KISS
ABBA
Donna Summer
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Genesis
the Stooges
LL Cool J
Jimmy Cliff
the Hollies
Darlene Love
the Chantels
Laura Nyro

The induction ceremony will take place March 15 in New York City, only five of the 12 will be inducted (announced in December). Tough task, but interested in hearing your five nominees.....

I'm going w/ KISS (overdue, like it or not), Genesis, LL, the Stooges, and even though I abhor disco, Donna Summer. Hard to exclude the Hollies and Jimmy Cliff though. Not too familiar w/ Laura Nyro, the Chantels, or Darlene Love. Thoughts?

As a lifelong Kate Bush fan, I really hope she will be inducted, though I also believe the RnRHoF doesn't have a lot of credibility left. My other pick for 2018 would be Radiohead, The Moody Blues, Judas Priest and Dire Straits.

So glad to see The Moody Blues who have been rocking for 50 years finally being recognized, it's about time!

I almost cried when I heard my Moody Blues were nominated. I have been waiting for this for so long!
Hopefully they can soon sing, "I'm Just A Singer In A Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Band!"

The Class of 2018 inductees were announced today. They are:

Bon Jovi
The Cars
Dire Straits
the Moody Blues
Nina Simone

and Sister Rosetta Tharpe tagged separately as an "early influence"

The big surprise is that Radiohead didn't make the short list for actual induction. They were one of the two artists that I thought were shoo-ins in their first year of eligibility, the remaining one out there being Eminem, who I expect to be inducted in his first year of eligibility in a few years.

The selection of the Moody Blues handles the last really popular band that I couldn't believe wasn't in the Rock Hall. About the only band left that I can't believe isn't in yet is Kraftwerk, who are about as influential as they come within their genre.

Picked 4 of the 5 correctly this year! Disappointed that I was correct about Bon Jovi making the short list, but overall happy about the selectees.

I am saddened by the news today that founding member of the Moody Blues, Ray Thomas, has passed away. Better late than never for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to recognize the Moodies.

Later this week the inductees for the Class of 2019 will be announced from the below long list of nominees- they tend to induct five or six of the nominees.

The long list is:

The Cure
Def Leppard
Devo
Janet Jackson
Kraftwerk
LL Cool J
MC5
Stevie Nicks
John Prine
Radiohead
Rage Against the Machine
Roxy Music
Rufus featuring Chaka Khan
Todd Rundgren
the Zombies

In previous years, I've tried to predict who would make it and who I thought should make it, from these nominees.
The Rock Hall of Fame is supposed to consider merit and influence over popularity and record sales, but there has been a growing number of really popular bands who are not critics favorites in the past several years, including as an example Bon Jovi, who was inducted earlier this year.

Who I would pick from this list, in descending order of enthusiasm:

Kraftwerk
Roxy Music

Both of these bands were incredibly influential and to me the most egregious examples of who should be in the Hall but are not.

Todd Rundgren
Def Leppard
the Zombies
Radiohead

Who I think WILL be inducted:

Def Leppard
Janet Jackson
Todd Rundgren
Stevie Nicks
the Zombies, and if there is a sixth,
Roxy Music

SO happy to see that Roxy Music made it in. Their 1982 album, Avalon, is one of the best albums of that decade, IMHO.

The nominees for possible induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2022:

These were announced earlier this year. Out of this group of 17, at least 5, and up to 8 of the nominees will be inducted, with the inductees probably being announced sometime next month:

Beck
Pat Benatar
Kate Bush
Devo
Eminem
Duran Duran
Eurythmics
Fela Kuti
Judas Priest
MC5
New York Dolls
Dolly Parton
Rage Against the Machine
Lionel Richie
Carly Simon
A Tribe Called Quest
Dionne Warwicke

My choices of the above, in order of descending enthusiasm:

Kate Bush
Duran Duran
Eurythmics
Pat Benatar
Judas Priest

and if 7,
Dionne Warwicke
New York Dolls

Who I think they will induct, in order of my guess about vote totals:

Duran Duran
Eminem
Pat Benatar
Eurythmics
Judas Priest

And if 7:

Kate Bush
A Tribe Called Quest
