English mathematician John Wallis introduced the lemniscate (an 8 on its side) in 1657. Mathematically infinity is not technically a number but a potential number. Nothing is greater than infinity and it is neither odd or even. One might think that if you subtract infinity from infinity you would end up with zero but called an indeterminate form.
