Also, still not on the list or taken: Kosovo Morocco Kazakhstan However, there are two "Congo"s listed. Which is which? Reply #163. Apr 07 10, 8:26 PM |

Kazakhstan has been claimed on the thread inside the Bus Ride board. In fact, it may already have been done - my full list is at home. Reply #164. Apr 07 10, 9:03 PM |

Both Congos are from PDAZ, and were written within days of each other. She would know which is which, but I would be confident that they are one of each! Reply #165. Apr 07 10, 9:11 PM |

A quiz on Kazakhstan is online. I don't know why I don't see any listing for it in Terry's post (which, when I tried to count the countries on screen, came up about 25 short). There are three quizzes on Morocco available, so presumably one of them is in the pack somewhere. Checking on Kosovo has led me to a query - I can only find a UN list (on their website) listing members in 2006, when they were 192 in number. Can anyone tell me who the last three members are? One of them may be Kosovo, which is not on the UN list. Here's a link to the list I could find. If anyone can identify who is missing, it will be easier for me to see which countries are not on the list posted at the top of this board, and see if I can in fact find a quiz on each of them. http://www.un.org/News/Press/docs/2006/org1469.doc.htm Reply #166. Okay, I've just gone through a comparison of the countries on Terry's list and the 192 UN members. Morocco and Kazakhstan are not listed by Terry, but there is at least one quiz for each available. If they are not included, they easily can be. Morocco candidates: 1) 9 for 10 is helpful, fair amount of FITB, moderate info, 2004 http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Geography/9-for-10---Morocco-173412.html 2) cultural/historical focus, moderate info, 2004 http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Geography/Mahgreb-Mania-183625.html 3) not much info, questions include stale population iquery, 2002 http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Geography/Know-more-about-Morocco-97302.html Candidate for Kazakhstan, online last week: http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Geography/Kazakhstan-323687.html Taiwan and Vatican City are not UN members, but there is a quiz for each of them. Adding that to the 'official' 192 would give me a total of 194, still one short of the 195 that has been bandied about. Reply #167. Apr 08 10, 5:06 AM |

Using an abacus, a spool of thread, a rapier, and some duct tape I have managed to determine the following: Terry's list has 192 countries. It's missing Kosovo, Morocco and Kazakhstan. The UN is usually wrong and ought not be listened to anyway, however, their list is missing Taiwan, the Vatican, and Kosovo. This brings both lists up to 195. Reply #168. Apr 08 10, 8:04 AM |

You would have thought that the UN would at least know who belongs, even if they can't do much about making them all get along with each other! I have added Kosovo to my list with a bullet - there does not seem to be any quiz on Kosovo on the site, despite the 195 target having been declared. If anyone does know where one is, please post a link here! The other two countries missing from the list in the link at the top of this thread have already had links posted above. The other country with no quiz online at the moment is Sao Tome and Principe. Reply #172. Apr 08 10, 1:45 PM |

The discrepancy over the UN's '195 countries' missing out Kosovo, Taiwan and the Vatican isn't entirely the UN's fault. Kosovo's and Taiwan's status as countries isn't universally accepted by many other countries (and therefore by the UN) for reasons largely of political expediency (namely relations with Serbia and China), and the Vatican City maintains its own ambivalence by delegating its international relations to The Holy See (a separate but closely linked entity!). So it could be argued that Funtrivia and the Bus Ride are breaking new ground in international diplomacy by including them. Oooh-er! Reply #174. Apr 08 10, 3:31 PM |

I believe Kosovo is in a similar positon to Taiwan, but if we need it to live up to our 195-day promise, we need it! Always happy to be at the cutting edge of international politics. Reply #175. Apr 08 10, 4:28 PM |

When the Bus Ride changes to 196, I'll worry about who to add! Actually, somebody must have decided which are the current 195 countries in order to have declared the original challenge completed. I only wanted to know the 195th on the list, and make sure it has a quiz online. Maybe we need another category for disputed entities - Sealand has a quiz, and I am planning on on Hutt River. I'm sure there are plenty of other spots that could be added! Reply #177. Apr 08 10, 6:36 PM |
