Subject: Temporarily Absent Friends

Posted by: UmberWunFayun
Date: Aug 15 18

With such a well known and loved FT member MIA for such a long time, I thought I'd better update everyone who is missing Elle, aka Blackdresss, on the situation, and at the same time provide a place where players can let everyone know if someone is going to be absent for a while to save any unnecessary worry. This is a close community, and we all notice if our friends disappear. So, from vacations to technological difficulties, please feel free to use this space to keep the community informed about temporarily absent friends (with their permission), or your own sojourns away from the screen should you wish to do so.

Kev, I'm a tattooed biker shieldmaiden - I AM the outlaw haha ;-)

That's okay, Jo, you could be very useful to us. A lot of times it takes an outlaw to hunt an outlaw, and a lot of the best law dogs of any era are ex-outlaws themselves or have natural tendencies that lie outside the realm of the law like myself. We can call ourselves the Motley Crew and we will be the most highly feared and respected freelance posse and band of renegade bounty hunters in the world! :-)

They should allow mixed teams to make a quiz together about our wild adventures! :)

I love that we have an outlaw, too! Me? I'm the wild card!

Wild adventures indeed! :-) We will have lots of them as we ride the dusty trails from Oklahoma to Oregon on our horsies - sleeping out under the stars, getting attacked by Indians and Comancheros, having shootouts with outlaw gangs, hallucinating on peyote. It will be loads of fun! :-)

So, Kev's the Sheriff, Jen's the Wild Card, Mark's the Cook, I'm the Outlaw, Elle is our beautiful but tough lady who can outride, outdrink, and outshoot the menfolk, Cat can be our Wise Sage who keeps us crazy roughriders on the straight and narrow.......we need a youngster to do the chores, like tending the horses when we set up camp.

What's the name of the camp dog?

I vote that we take a vote on it, but I'm not in any shape to cast an intelligent vote right now because I'm hallucinating on peyote. :-)

Do you guys remember in one of those Young Guns movies when they were all hallucinating on that peyote? Hee hee! They went to the Spirit World. :-)

First thing I thought of when you said peyote, since I've had a massive crush on Kiefer Sutherland for thirty years! I was actually going to post "She's my flower.....I'm her butterfly" but I didn't think anyone would know what I was talking about!

I tend to lean toward unusual names for dogs, Mark, not exactly everyone's cup of tea, so I'll let you choose. I'm just happy we have a dog :-D

Ahaw haw! That was a pretty funny scene. I was going to post a link to it but it had the horribly profane "arse" word in it. Didn't think it would go over very well, especially since it was immediately followed with "hole."

So you have a thing about studly Keifer, ay, Jo? I hope you got to see all the seasons of that outstanding 24 show. That was one of the most exciting and suspenseful shows I have ever seen. I think they should have had at least one episode where Jack is running down the street to beat all hell with a gun in one hand and a cell phone in the other, you know, just like always, only this time somebody calls out to him "Hey, Jack, what's the big hurry?" and then Jack replies with something like "No time to talk right now! Gotta find a toilet and a bed! Haven't slept or gone to the bathroom in almost a week now! Talk to you later!" Ahyuk! That would have been pretty cool and funny. :-)

I'm thinking 'Happy' for our dog's name.
I am hoping that she enriches our life, as we help her live a full and happy life.

Haha, Kev yeah, I've been crazy about Kiefer Sutherland since Stand By Me and The Lost Boys, waaaaaaay back in the 80s. And I love 24, Jack Bauer is so ridiculously cool. Too cool to ever go to the bathroom.

Mark, Happy is a great name for a dog, I love it! I'm definitely always happier when there's a dog around. Petey, the dog in my tattoo, used to follow me out horseback riding (he came with me everywhere) and he was always happy to be there. And I call all my dogs 'Happy Puppy' when I talk to them. Amongst other things haha.

Ha! Woo-hoo! "Too cool to go to the bathroom" just scored me the biggest laugh I've had in probably several days. Thanks, Jo! :-)

"Jack, where the hell are you going?! We've got to formulate a plan before it's TOO LATE!"

"I'll have to deal with the terrorists later, sorry! I've got to find a toilet and the clock is running out!" Tick....tock....tick....tock!

Ahyuk! Being able to do voice-overs on pieces of movies and TV shows would just be the biggest dream-come-true job ever for me. I could have such a field day with 24! :-)

Yeah, The Lost Boys was a pretty cool movie. Kiefer really looked like a studly rock and roll outlaw in that one. Did you ever see Flatliners? Crazy stuff those kids did, man.

That sounds like a very nice idea, Mark. You guys have got my vote for Happy as well. What kind of puppy dog do you guys suppose he or she should be?

Oh, dude, Flatliners (the original version) is one of my favourite movies! I've watched it so many times........but The Lost Boys is the best. Kiefer broke his wrist in a motorcycle accident making that movie, but he got back in the saddle and carried on filming like a real studly, tough biker. He's so awesome........*sigh*. Just listening to his voice makes me melt, and that dirty laugh of his.........

Anyway.....

I'm easy on breed for Happy, got a bit of a mix myself. I like em in all shapes and sizes, but shorthaired is my main preference. I've got a feeling Mark might vote for a Beagle, which is cool; she can catch us rabbits for stew :-)

I'm thinking Lab or Beagle.

Have you two ever seen "Kelly's Heroes?" Keifer's father, Donald played a tank sergeant that was one of the funniest characters in a war movie ever.

Ah, yes… Kiefer the “bad boy”. He’s an awesome actor and that was a very interesting story about him breaking his wrist, I never knew that! Oh, man, Flatliners was a crazy one. I remember seeing that as a young kid and hating that kid in the red hoody, not understanding anything about the plot.

We make a pact now: Happy doesn’t die. Despite our crazy adventures, the dog must not die… please?
A Lab or a Beagle would be great! We’re all having rabbit stew for dinner tonight, right?

Happy is definitely not dying! We might have to spend three days searching for her down rabbit holes if she's a Beagle, but she's invincible, don't worry!

Do you remember the part in The Lost Boys where they rode their motorbikes down those steps onto the beach? Well, the guys did that themselves, no stand-ins, that's how Kiefer's wrist got broken. It's still him in the final take, though, toughin it out! The gloves and long sleeved coat he wore were to cover the cast. Oh, did you know he's a twin, too? He has a twin sister like you, Jen!

Mark, yeah, I've seen lots of Donald Sutherland's movies, he's a great actor, too. I can certainly see where his son gets it from.

Kev, maybe we should start a new blog for the trail ride? This one probably isn't the place for all this......

I don't know, Jo, my Buddy blog is pretty much an all-purpose blog where I keep all my horses and trail supplies, but I'm easy to please, whatever you guys want to do.

I guess I was not aware that Kiefer had a twin and I didn't know you did either, Jen. That's pretty cool. What does Kiefer's twin do for a living, Jo?

Yeah, I have seen Kelly's Heroes probably 7 or 8 times, Mark. Great movie. It's one of the featured movies in my big important movie quiz. :-)
