Subject: Temporarily Absent Friends

Posted by: UmberWunFayun
Date: Aug 15 18

With such a well known and loved FT member MIA for such a long time, I thought I'd better update everyone who is missing Elle, aka Blackdresss, on the situation, and at the same time provide a place where players can let everyone know if someone is going to be absent for a while to save any unnecessary worry. This is a close community, and we all notice if our friends disappear. So, from vacations to technological difficulties, please feel free to use this space to keep the community informed about temporarily absent friends (with their permission), or your own sojourns away from the screen should you wish to do so.

Michelle, thanks for the update.

I had been wondering if you had been playing. Great idea to get your own ID, but I have no suggestions as to a name. Find something that suits you. You know yourself best.

Wishing the same for Elle.

Michelle thank you for the news. One of my favourite shows is Long Island Medium with Theresa Caputo. Maybe you could call yourself IllinoisMedium although I agree with postcards2go you know yourself better.

Jo, thank you so much for letting everyone know what happened to me. You are such a great friend. I will love you forever for this.

And everyone who sent well wishes via the TWO, count 'em TWO e-cards I received from Jo, thank you all SO MUCH. I can't tell you how touched and moved I was and am. That was incredibly kind.

I think I'm back... I'm back right now, and I'm going to play all that I can for my team. We have several teammates in the path of this hellacious hurricane. I saw this on TV and knew I needed to get back in here as soon as I could.

But thank you again, so much. You guys made me cry! But in that really good way, so thank you.

Hugs,

Elle

Hoorah, Elle's back, that is so great. I hope you are well enough to stay, and keep getting better, healthwise that is.

Thank you so much! I am having wayyyyy too much fun for a girl who's been (and remains) bedridden for so long, and my laptop is probably going to burst into flames. Seriously. I've got it propped on my lap, on top of too many comforters with a stuffed bear and an icebag underneath it, and it's still overheating.

My kitties are certain I have lost my mind. They've just finally gotten into the swing of never, ever getting out of bed except to hobble down the hall or hobble down the stairs. And now, I've got a laptop on my lap. Next, it will be a banjo on my knee. Just watch.

But so far, so good, and I'm having FUN! Did I mention that?

Even though I think I made the entire Duels Thread disappear with one little, tiny post...

Maybe all this Chlorophyll and Sweetish Bitters and Activated Charcoal have given me superpowers? That must be it.

I am now... Super Elle! (ROWR!)

Elle,
Many of us have thought that you have super powers for a long time. Please give us an update on your cats, they must have been traumatized by your illness.

My kitties are truly fine. I was never away from home, other than spending hours and hours in Urgent Care. The first day I hobbled in there, they kept me for five hours, trying to figure out all that was wrong with me. They always sent me home again, generally to return the next day. The Bunny Boys have been worried, but as long as they are fed, and have plenty of fresh water, and get lots of love and pets and snuggling, they're fine. They all have little nests of beds I have made for them out of Kitty Comforters at the foot of my bed. They kind of love all this lying around. And I am NOT contagious to my kitties. It's one of the first things I asked when they told me all the things that were wrong with me, and why I felt like death, and why I hurt literally everywhere. I had no clue I had pneumonia -- I just knew I was really, really sick and it was BAD.

They never leave my side, so we hobble down the stairs for food and water and to use the litter box (them, not me -- I may have Super Powers, but I'm refraining from turning into a full-fledged Cat,) and to look out the window of the Sun Room to see our two HUGE white-tail deer bucks lying in the front yard, under the apple tree. I know how to keep kitties happy, and if they're happy, I'm okay, and vice versa. You know what I mean. You do, right?

The Broncos play today, and I think they play their arch rivals, The Raiders. I don't know if I can stay awake that long, though. But I may try. And my Rockies are doing so well, it's shocking. You have to be a diehard fan to be a Rockies fan, and I am.

And you know two of my kitties are named after Rockies players, and one is named after a Broncos quarterback, right? Who is now also a baseball player with a broken hand. I can't imagine any part of Tebow breaking, but I guess it did.

Thank you for the update on your fur babies! And you! I'm so glad you're back, you were missed!
And I'm so happy for you that you have companions to be with; sounds like they really hate that you're in bed (haha).

When I had pneumonia, I couldn't go two or three steps without having to stop to catch my breath. Ugh.

I'm happy for your Rockies! I don't think many people had them leading the West at any point this season, let alone at mid-September!
Stay tough, Elle!

Hey Jen!

Pneumonia was the Big Surprise. C Diff was the KILLER. That stuff is just nasty. It's why I had no clue I had pneumonia. I was sick everywhere. And it all started with an abscessed tooth and the antibiotic my new dentist (all my doctors are new to me) prescribed. That tooth crashed to the bottom of my list, and there it remains until I am cleared to move about the country again. I just crashed like dominoes. Scared the hell out of me.

Yes, my kitties just hate taking long, leisurely naps. What kitty doesn't? And all this snuggling -- they loathe it! Tulo is beside me right now, taking a bath and giving my left hand a bath at the same time. I'll be lucky if I have any skin left when he's finished.

You know, right about the second I said my Rockies are doing so well, they began to tank. And now Trevor Story is injured, so they are probably going down like a sinking ship. I should know better.

I don't even know who the Broncos' quarterback is! I really, really need my Denver Post, especially the Sports Section. It's one of the many things I didn't factor in when I decided to make a major move.

The Denver Broncos Quarterback is Case Keenum. He is currently 2-0 having engineered 2 4th quarter comebacks.

Well, he sounds fabulous, Mark! But I wish John Elway would stop messing with quarterbacks and give them a chance to mature. I haven't seen any football games yet this season, but the rotating Broncos QBs are making my head spin.

I have no clue where Brock Osweiler is, what happened to Semian, (sp?) and how about Paxton Lynch??? I'm surprised he let Peyton Manning play as long as he did.

Disclaimer: I know this is not necessarily the popular view on the Broncos' rotating QBs and most people think JE can Do No Wrong. I, however, am not one of them. (And everyone in CO loved Tim Tebow when he played for the Broncos, so of course, he had to go.)

Mark, I've asked a question about Duels on our Team MB and also in the newly-formed Duels thread, but no one has answered me yet. I have a feeling you will know -- you know everything!

Oof, thank you for explaining what happened, Elle. I can’t believe the root of all of your suffering was a tooth, of all things. And the antibiotic! I simply can’t explain how sometimes the cure is the problem. That’s just not right. But hey! You’re on your way, good for you for not giving up and for seeking help in the first place. Hats off to you.

Now I get it for real. Tulo… Troy Tulowiski (sp)? Very cute!

The Broncos really cleaned house this offseason. Trevor Siemian is now a Viking (Minnesota), Brock Osweiler is now a Dolphin (Miami), and Paxton Lynch is a free agent, though he apparently just had a workout for the Redskins (Washington).
Case Keenum was a career backup until last season for the Vikings, which he parlayed into a starting role with the Broncos, so good for him. He’s been winning, so hopefully there won’t be any rotating for Denver! :)

Elle I have to ask you a question that has been bothering me for days. I need new glasses but no matter how hard I look at your Avatar I cannot make out what it is. Please put me out of my misery and tell me what it is.

Yep, that's me. Long blonde tresses from the back, holding my hair up. You're not the first person to ask me what the heck that is. I have a lot of photos like that.

My funniest photos are the ones I take every year of the birthday parties I have for my kitties, complete with hats I make for them out of paper cups -- the pointed Dixie Cups, decorated, of course. They look like they want to eat ME rather than the delicious "cake" I make for them. I'm not sure I can use any of them as Avatars, though -- talk about not being able to see what's going on. And there is a LOT going on in those photos!

You know more about my Broncos than I do, Jen!

Yes, Tulo is named after Troy Tulowitzki, and I have an official T-shirt that just says TULO on the front with his number. I have three of them -- wouldn't want them to wear out.

Tory is named after Yorvit Torrealba. They were both playing for the Rockies when I brought them home as little tiny kittens, and they are named perfectly.

And then there is Little Timmy Tebow, my 28-pound baby who was so tiny when I brought him home, but grew into his name really quickly. Thank goodness Timmy is sweet, because he could eat me and both Tulo and Tory and no one would be the wiser. That boy knows how to EAT. And he's all muscle, with the same cute little cowlick the "other" Tim Tebow has, right in the middle of his forehead.

Brock Osweiler and I went to the same High School. I'm not sure if "Brock" would be a great name for a kitty, but I'd consider it if I still got to watch him play. That guy is built like Peyton Manning, and he studied under Peyton Manning, and he knows all the plays. He's something like 6'7" -- so is Paxton Lynch, I think. He was my first choice in that Draft. I can't believe how quickly JE moves the QBs on and off that team. He brought Brock back, only to send him off again! Somehow, it feels personal...
