Oops - just got a Humanities quiz online and made sure it didn't include any names, came here to say it was online and then realised that I'd not written a match quiz! Anyway still happy to do this challenge - and two humanities quizzes will earn my the author rainbow badgelet so it's not the end of the world! Reply #42. Apr 21 23, 5:34 AM |

Haha, Stoaty! When claimed Movies for this challenge, I was almost done with writing it, and then I realized "Gosh, it's supposed to be a match quiz!". Reply #43. Apr 21 23, 1:27 PM |

I have had enough challenges writing satisfactory quizzes in "Celebrities" that I probably wouldn't do it, but I wonder if it would be possible to write a "Celebrities" quiz that would fit this challenge if the quiz was in this subcategory: https://www.funtrivia.com/ql.cfm?cat=2947 I suppose you would have to refer at least fictional celebrities (ie., Troy McClure), but fictional names are allowed by the quiz. Here is my contribution for World: https://www.funtrivia.com/quiz/world/eu-countries-losing-their-identities-412476.html I found this challenge a bit tricky. I deliberately chose flags as a topic as I thought it would be easy not to include names. However, many flags (especially the ones I used) seemed to be based on ruling houses from times past. Not a problem at this level but it was difficult not to mention the heads of those ruling houses. Even when I finished the quiz I found there were still two people's names left in the quiz. I was actually quite pleased with the end result as I was able to frame the questions in a novel format. I hope it is a worthy addition to the stablemate quizzes already submitted for this challenge. That's a really amazing, creative quiz, 1nn1; but it's a label quiz. This challenge is to write a match quiz. Reply #46. Apr 26 23, 2:35 PM |

Well that was serendipitous. Having failed spectacularly by forgetting the major criteria of this challenge ie Make it a Match Quiz, this at least bought some time and Voila! - Photo Match Quizzes are now available so I have great delight in posting the first Photo Match Quiz of this challenge, the first of many I hope. https://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/World/Classic-Cars---Bits-and-Pieces-407905.html Reply #48. This quiz was completed some time ago and I posted something about it but obviously not in this forum. Here is the reference: https://www.funtrivia.com/quiz/world/eu-countries-losing-their-identities-412476.html I thought this challenge would be fairly easy as flags as a subject should have little to do with individual people. However, the history of so many flags can actually be traced back to prominent individuals. My initial version required a fairly major edit to rid itself of inadvertently included names. A tough but fun challenge. Reply #50. Jun 01 23, 4:17 PM |

Please disregard the last post from me. While it was written for this challenge - it was not a Match quiz. Reply #51. Jun 01 23, 4:25 PM |

Hey all-- just followed up with Wes on this challenge (as it was his suggestion back when we started this). Since the addition of this one, we've been introduced to the new Photo-Match Format, so just a bit of clarity. The aim of this challenge was to create quizzes that were a little less 'phone book'; we were looking for more-dynamic approaches that took out a frequently-seen element in these quizzes, chiefly names. This is part of why Celebrities was omitted. People was kept in because of the obvious exceptions (Liz took one of them cleanly). To stay the course on this, we've elected to keep the original objective-- Match Format only-- to ensure everyone's approaching this with the same expectations. It's likely we'll introduce a Photo Match challenge to the Lounge in the very near future to take advantage of the new format. This being said, the one exception we might make, is if anyone wants to try and achieve the impossible, a Photo Match quiz with the rules in this challenge would be a nice one to see. ;) Reply #55. Kyle's impossible task refers to doing it in Celebrities of course! The photos can probably get around one of the otherwise impassable barriers, although it will still be very hard to do the info without any names... Reply #57. Jun 15 23, 1:59 PM |
