Infrastructure repairs are never complete. Ever.
You may have travelled, before, on the FunTrivia Bus Ride, and if you've been here in the lounge lately you might have seen our previous Maintenance effort. Our goal is to keep the ride running and the world tour fresh and exciting.
With this in mind, we're aiming to perform a bit of a refresh, in some cases closing down the old bus stops and installing new ones along the route. It's all the same countries, but it's time to make some long-needed transit maintenance happen, especially since we have so many new quiz types that have yet to be seen in some sections.
In this thread here, we have thirty different nations, the first set of countries that, based on our current infrastructure and surveying, need new quizzes. Working together, it's time to accomplish the challenge. A few requirements, however:
Variety is the spice of life! We're aiming to create a dynamic Bus Ride that takes a look at the many unique facets of the nations visited. This means that in addition to Geography quizzes, which are generally the go-to, there is a likelihood that new quizzes in the World category (eg. cultures) or the General category (eg. Mixed Countries) or similar will be a good fit. At least ten of the countries below must be in categories that aren't Geography.
Speaking on variety again, we have so many new quiz types that it doesn't make sense not to employ them. 3 quizzes submitted for this challenge must be Label Quizzes; 3 must be Order Quizzes; 3 must be Classification Quizzes; 3 must be Fun Fill-It Quizzes; 3 must be Collection Quizzes.
As a reminder, the quizzes used on the Bus Ride must be country-specific. If the option is for the Czech Republic, then a quiz solely about Prague isn't necessarily going to make the grade.
Below are the thirty new countries we're aiming to see replacement quizzes for. Selections are first-come-first-serve and you may claim additional countries when your previous ones have gone online.

This is a wonderful holiday present! I will start by taking Denmark, and my quiz will very likely be a Fun Fill-It one. Regarding Finland, I apologize beforehand for tooting my own horn, but I wrote a Mixed Finland quiz for one of the Author Gallery challenges in the month of February 2023. Looney_Tunes can correct me if I'm wrong but viability for the Bus Ride is based on a number of factors including variety between stops and reception. I figure we've probably hit Finland since your quiz went online (at least once) but it's hard to say if those lists have been updated in full since then. It having a Red Star probably makes it pretty suitable. The list here is a mix of what has been prescribed as 'most needed' and a small handful of other, more accessible countries that it'd be nice to see more in, whether they're used or not. It's hard to have thirty Cape Verde-esque options, where the country's a bit harder to take care of. Throwing in a NZ or a Finland gives an opportunity to cover those countries in new ways (if people are inclined). As well, as with other challenges, unfortunately submissions can not be retroactive. I thought I had placed that Finland quiz into the ride back in July, according to my spreadsheet! I must have ticked it off, but not actually completed the necessary mechanics. I will check this evening! There are a few others I noted as being ready once the current quiz had been visited. (Some of those are older quizzes that were just rotated in for variety, and good to replace.) QuiWriMo kept me rather busy, but I was thinking it was time to make another batch of changes. Reply #4. Please don't get me wrong, Kyle :-). I know about submissions not being retroactive, and did not mean to worm my way out of writing by suggesting you accept a quiz written almost a year ago for this particular challenge. I just wanted to draw attention to a quiz on one of the suggested topics that may have been overlooked. Personally, I am more than happy to write about other countries, as I have already written four quizzes about Finland (in four different categories, no less :D). LadyNym, I just checked, and see that the Bus Ride list shows your quiz as being on there for Finland. Has it visited there since July and displayed another quiz? If so something is broken and Terry needs to have a look! Today's stop is #184, so we should have hit Finland (#45) between now and then. I must confess that, although I play every day, I don't actually notice which quiz comes up, as I have played everything at least once before, and they all blur a bit over the years. I also take note of any potential quiz that goes online, and add it to the rotation list if it looks suitable. This challenge is a stimulus to get more of them, not the only way to join the ride! So wellenbrecher's quiz is on the spreadsheet to be evaluated when it has had enough plays to establish difficulty and rating - I want red stars, have plenty of gold, and include blue if it provides variety. There are even, at the moment, a few with no stars that used new formats; they will probably not last long as the diversity of formats increases with more highly-ranked quizzes on other countries. (And I won't be making any change to the current quiz until about 800 days have passed since the date of rotation, to make sure it has had at least two visits.) Reply #10. Dec 05 23, 11:52 AM |

LT, if I told you that I remember my Finland quiz appearing in the Bus Ride, i would be lying. This is, however, entirely my fault, because I rarely play the game. On the other hand, it is quite possible that my quiz on Finnish fauna (which is older than the Mixed Finland one) was in the Bus Ride rotation for some time in the past. Reply #12.
