Jared Nomak is a vampire who is also a carrier of the "Reaper Strain". We are told that it is a virus that turns vampires into something even more dangerous when they are bitten by a carrier of it. Later we find out that Nomak is just a genetic mutation created by the vampire lord Damoskinos. He does it to create his own race of Daywalkers like Blade.
