After take off, he entered space which was completely filled with BnL products and other kinds of junk including the basketball-sized Russian satellite "Sputnik", which was the last object to let go of him.

After Auto starts refusing to obey the Captain, we again see the pictures of the previous captains. This time, we see how Auto is lurking behind them ominously. Auto's glowing red eye is a reference to the HAL 9000 computer from "2001: A Space Odyssey", another machine that starts refusing human orders and becomes a threat.

It enabled to ship and its passengers to arrive on Earth almost instantly. Vehicles achieving faster than light travel is common in sci-fi, but is impossible in reality. Well, for now at least.

When the captain came to know about it, AUTO staged a mutiny, taking control of the ship.
