Brainy Smurf (the smart one who wears glasses), Hefty Smurf (the strong one), Handy Smurf (the carpenter-type one), Smurfette the only girl smurf (until the smurflings were introduced later and then Sassy was also female), and Papa Smurf. Papa was the Smurf in the red hat. The rest wore white hats. Their main enemy was Gargamel and his cat Azrael. They used the word "smurf" in many ways, including swearing (though I didn't get that as a child) such as "Smurf it!"
