Question 1 of 10
1. Playing Texas Hold'em, your Ac Kc is currently best on a board of Qd 9s 8s 2c against your opponent's 7s 6s. Which of the following cards would lead to you losing the hand? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. Maybe it wasn't reasonable to expect to win the hand without a single pair. In this hand, you've made top pair with Kh Th on a board of Kd 7s 6s 2h. Do any of the below cards lead to disaster against your opponent's 9s8s? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. In this hand, you head to the river well ahead, holding Js Th against your opponents 8s 8c, on a board of Jc Jd 4s 3h. Thinking you have the pot in the bag, you zone out for a second, and then wake up to see the pot pushed to your opponent. Which of these cards hit on the river? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. After witnessing the last hand, you decide to take a trusty pocket pair into battle - 3h 3d. Your opponent has As Ks, and the board is 7s 7h Tc 8c. Phew, no flush or straight draw for your opponent, and the river isn't an Ace or a King. But wait - the pot is pushed to your opponent anyway. Which of these cards caused this? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. Perhaps Texas Hold'em isn't your game, so you decide to switch to the second most popular poker variant in America today - Pot Limit Omaha. In Omaha, you are dealt 4 cards, and you must use exactly two of them. You have a set with 4c 4s 3s 2d on a board of 9d 8h 2c 4h, and your opponent is still drawing with his Js Ts 7d 6d. Of the forty cards left in the deck, how many give your opponent the win? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. Brushing off your bad luck, you switch tables to one filled with inexperienced players. Again, you get it in good, having made a flush with Tc 9c 8d 7d on Qc 8c 6c 2h. Your opponent has Ac Jd Jh Td, and is peering intently at the board. Which of these gives him the pot? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. You look at your calendar and realize it's June - time to brush up on some other games for the WSOP. Let's start with Seven Card Stud; you've started off incredibly strong with As Ac Kc, but have bricked out since and now hold As Ac Ks Th 8h 2s. Your opponent had a drawing hand with 5s 6s 7s, and now holds 5s 6s 7s 5d Th 3d.

Stud is tricky, as you and your opponent get different "rivers" (known as 7th street). Starting with your opponent's 7th street first and yours second, which of these combos lets your opponent win?
Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Now let's move on to some low games. Holding 8s 7c 5d 4s 3s Tc in Razz, you head to seventh street against your opponent's 4c 3c 2d Ad Kd Qc. You brick out with a Jd; how many cards can your opponent draw to defeat you? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. Moving on to a different type of poker game, you've now switched to Deuce to Seven Triple Draw, a draw game. You are satisfied with your hand of 8s 6d 4s 3h Ac, and stand pat. Your opponent, with a hand of 6c 5d 4c 3c, draws a single card. How many outs do they have to beat you? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. Unsurprisingly, the WSOP has not quite gone to plan (turns out it's hard to do well in tournaments when you keep losing on the river). You've returned to Texas Hold'Em cash to recuperate, and have turned quads! - You have As Ac on a board of Ah Ad Kd 5h. Quads might feel unbeatable, but when your opponent turns over Jd Td you realize you can still lose. What card deals you the sickest of all bad beats? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Playing Texas Hold'em, your Ac Kc is currently best on a board of Qd 9s 8s 2c against your opponent's 7s 6s. Which of the following cards would lead to you losing the hand?

Answer: 6h

While you were ahead on the turn, your opponent had plenty of outs to get there on the river - any of the nine remaining spades would give them a flush, any T or 5 would give them a straight, and any 7 or 6 would give them a pair. With 21 outs out of 44 possible cards, they were almost 50% to win the hand.
2. Maybe it wasn't reasonable to expect to win the hand without a single pair. In this hand, you've made top pair with Kh Th on a board of Kd 7s 6s 2h. Do any of the below cards lead to disaster against your opponent's 9s8s?

Answer: Tc

The ten of clubs flashes and for a minute you rejoice - you've made two pair! Unfortunately, it's no good against your opponent's straight. Like the last hand, your opponent's straight flush draw has left them with plenty of outs(15 to be exact) to win the hand.

Answer: 8h

Having a pocket pair is powerful, as you have two outs to making a set, which in this case turned into a full house (8s over Js), which unfortunately beats your mere three-of-a-kind. This was truly unlucky, as there were only two cards in the deck (the two remaining 8s), that would lead to you losing the pot.

Answer: 7c

Unfortunately, you had more outs to fade than just the six Aces and Kings left in the deck. Any of the six remaining Tens or 8s lead to both you and your opponent having two pair - in this case Tens and 7s. Unfortunately, your third pair doesn't play as a Hold'Em hand only contains five cards, and your opponent's kicker, their Ace beats your Eight from the board - your pair has been "counterfeit" and you now play the board.

Answer: Twenty

In Omaha, straight draws can be more powerful than in Hold'em. In Hold'em, a straight draw can only give you eight outs at the most. In Omaha, however, you can have up to 20. A 5, 7, T, J, or Q all give your opponent a straight, and you already know how this is going to go...

Answer: None of these

When the 5c arrives, your opponent leaps out of his seat in joy, only for the dealer to push the pot in your direction. Remember, in Omaha you must play two of your own hole cards - you can't use 4 from the board and so he does not have a flush. As you collect your chips you reflect on how nice it is to play Omaha with those who don't know the rules.

Answer: 6h - 3d

Despite you starting off with Aces, your opponent has drawn two pair and pulled ahead. In Stud High, because you and your opponent draw different cards, even Aces are not as strong as they might seem. In Hold'Em, you have roughly 78% equity with Aces against 65s. However, in Stud, As Ac Kc only has 60% equity against 5s6s7s - not as bad a break as you thought.
8. Now let's move on to some low games. Holding 8s 7c 5d 4s 3s Tc in Razz, you head to seventh street against your opponent's 4c 3c 2d Ad Kd Qc. You brick out with a Jd; how many cards can your opponent draw to defeat you?

Answer: Thirteen

Razz is Ace to Five low - meaning that straights and flushes do not count against you and Aces count as low. You currently hold an 8-7; while your opponent doesn't have a made hand they can win if they draw to an 8 (as they'd have an 8-4) or better. Any 8, 6, 7, or 5 wins them the pot which would be 16 cards - but of course the 8s, the 7c, and the 5d are already accounted for in your hand.

Answer: Three

Your opponent is actually in all sorts of difficulty here - in Deuce to Seven games, straights count as high, and so neither a 7 nor a 2 can save them. Drawing an 8 would only give them a 8-6-5, which loses to your 8-6-4. Only the three remaining Aces in the deck can help them out.

Answer: Qd

That's right - your quads just got ran over by a royal flush. In this case though, it's actually incredible news; the casino you were at had a bad beat jackpot and you've just won it. Time to take your winnings and your luck and find a new hobby.
