The Zipper is like a ferris wheel with a 58 foot/17 meter boom instead of a wheel; 12 caged cars capable of revolving 360 degrees are attached on a belt around the boom. The cars can travel forward or backward while the boom rotates. It was invented in 1969 by the Chance Rides Company of Wichita, Kansas. The U.S. radio business considered the Golden Age of Radio to be dead by 1962 as the last dramas like "Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar" went off the air. Producer Himan Brown nonetheless convinced CBS Radio to take a chance with "CBS Radio Mystery Theater" (called "CBSRMT" by fans).

The intent was not so much nostalgia for decades gone by but to feature modern plays to appeal to all ages. There were both original mystery, science fiction, fantasy, and horror stories along with fresh adaptations of such classic works as "A Christmas Carol" and short stories by Edgar Allan Poe, Guy de Maupassant, O.

Henry, and others. Brown made a total of 1,399 episodes between 1974 and 1982 before "CBSRMT", too, went the way of U.S. commercial radio drama. CBS Radio itself is no more, having been sold off and renamed in 2017.

The legacy of "CBSRMT", however, continued long after its demise. On Facebook and other social media, fan groups were created in the early 21st century that held regular listening parties of "CBSRMT", intact with commercials and station identifications from the original transmissions.

Originally released as "Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic" in Japan, the second "Mario" game on the NES was a slight variation of the original (which many people remember was packaged with "Duck Hunt"). Players could play as Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool, and Toad to cross eight different worlds to beat Wart, the final boss. Bowser does not appear in the game, but Birdo does.

The game has since been rereleased in "Super Mario All-Stars" for the SNES, as a Game Boy Advance title, and as a Wii Virtual Console title.
