Beatrix Potter was born in London but spent many vacations in an area of England called the Lake District. She had many pets, and drew them starting at age 8. "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" was her first book, published in 1902. She was the first person to patent and sell a stuffed animal based on a character. She also drew and sold Christmas cards. She later lived in the Lake District and ran a farm there. She gave the land she owned to England when she died, keeping the Lake District beautiful.
Peter Rabbit, Mr. McGregor and Benjamin Bunny all are in "The Tale of Peter Rabbit"; Hunca Munca is one of the mice in "The Tale of Two Bad Mice". Tabitha Twitchit is the mother of Tom Kitten, Mittens and Moppet - the cats are drawn wearing clothing and standing on two legs in several books. Mr. Jeremy Fisher is a frog who likes to go fishing. Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle is a hedgehog, whose prickles poke out of her cap while she washes clothes. Squirrel Nutkin is a red squirrel who is almost trapped by an owl. Jemima Puddle-Duck wears a blue bonnet, and really wants to lay eggs. Mrs. Tittlemouse is a little wood mouse who keeps a very clean home.
The wrong choice characters are from other popular books and movies. Bambi, Thumper and Flower are from the Disney movie "Bambi"; the book the movie is based on did not include Thumper and Flower. Dab-Dab (the duck), Jip (the dog), Polynesia (the parrot) and Chee-Chee (the monkey) are from "Dr. Doolittle". Brocktree and Mattimeo are a badger and a mouse from the "Redwall" series by Brian Jacques. Mr. Toad is from "The Wind in the Willows".
