Mickey Mouse first appeared in 1928 in the animated short film "Steamboat Willie", produced by Walt Disney Productions. The character was used extensively in theatrical shorts throughout the 1930s and later in television programs, feature films, print comics, and licensed merchandise. Mickey has appeared in more than 130 theatrical films (both shorts and features), and has served as the official corporate mascot of The Walt Disney Company for most of its history.
Baloo debuted in 1967 in Disney's animated feature "The Jungle Book", adapted from Rudyard Kipling's stories. In this version, Baloo is depicted as an adult sloth bear who accompanies Mowgli for part of his journey. The character later appeared in the 1990 television series "TaleSpin", which reimagined Baloo as a cargo pilot.
