Honor Harrington is from a heavy gravity world called Sphinx. It has a year that is 5.22 Terran years long.

2. What kind of sentient animal has adopted the main character?

Answer: A treecat

Treecats are six-limbed creatures who are the planet Sphinx' only sentient species. They are intelligent telepaths with their own kind, and empaths with humans. Treecats can 'taste' the 'mind-glow' of humans, some of whom have stronger mind-glows than others.

Answer: True

HMS Fearless has had its weapons armament severely depleted by the addition of a grav-lance, a new form of weapon that has not been proven in battle.

Commander McKeon wanted command of HMS Fearless himself, and was less than welcoming when Honor first came on board, but he never openly defied her authority. He did his job, not offering to assist her as a good exec should have done.

Medusa is a backwards planet and not as advanced as Manticore. It is suspected that the Republic of Haven has given the Medusans advanced arms and are encouraging an uprising.

Answer: He wants revenge.

Captain Lord Young wants to get back at Honor for the beating she gave him in the showers as a cadet, and because of the humiliation he felt when he had to apologize to her. He basically dumps the station on Honor and hopes she will not succeed in performing all duties required of her.
