Captain Reynaud, in charge of Basilisk Control, was completely surprised when the Lieutenant was assigned to him. No other Manticoran Fleet Captain had ever assigned anyone to Basilisk Control. He stated, "I don't know if I'm ready for the concept of a competent senior officer on Basilisk Station!"

Rafe couldn't figure out how to reprogram the drones without picking up all the drones that had already been deployed. The Captain told him to figure it out for himself. The only way to reprogram the drones was to go into the computer through the tac channel and that would be difficult, more because it took more time, than being complex.

He finally figured it out with Commander McKeon's help.

Later it was mentioned that the pelts were worth 43 million Manticoran dollars. Note: Ensign Tremain was only 13 years old and a new graduate of the academy on his first deployment.

It took 40 kilos of Medusan green moss to produce 1 kilo of raw mekoha paste, and ten kilos of the paste to produce one kilo of the final product. 30 grams of Mekoha was considered an average dose for new users, but that went up as the habit grew. The Medusans used it in religious rites and smoked the mekoha.

Denver Summervale had been a captain in the Royal Manticoran Marine Corp. He had killed a brother officer in a duel and was court martialed. This was not the first person he had killed on the "field of honor". An interesting fact was that Denver's cousin, Allen Summervale, was Prime Minister to the Queen on Manticore.
