Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Marty McFly buys an almanac of sport events.

Answer: Back to the Future Part II

When in 2015, Marty buys a sports almanac that documents major sports events from 1950 to 2000. He realizes the potential of the almanac: if he can take it back in time, the money that he could make from "predictions" based on the almanac would be astronomical. "Doc" Brown reprimands him about changing the future, however, and Marty throws away the almanac before returning to 1985.

Unfortunately, however, the elderly Biff Tannen hears the discussion and retrieves the almanac. He manages to travel back to 1955 to visit his younger self and deliver the almanac, so that he may make sporting "predictions". When Marty returns to 1985, he finds it completely changed, all thanks to Biff's money that he has made over the years with the almanac.
2. Marty McFly takes his young mother Lorraine Baines to the "Enchantment Under the Sea" dance.

Answer: Back to the Future

Back in 1955, Marty hatches a plan whereby he takes his mother to the dance, pretends to make inappropriate advances to her, and then his father. George McFly, rescues her. He drives Lorraine to the dance and they park in the parking lot. The plan goes completely awry, however, when Biff Tannen shows up, and Marty gets locked in Marvin Berry's car trunk.
3. "Doc" Brown saves Hill Valley's new schoolteacher from death.

Answer: Back to the Future Part III

Although Doc often reminds Marty that it is perilous to ever change the past or the future, he himself makes this mistake while back in 1885. While out inspecting the railroad that is being built, he saves a young woman in her carriage from falling into a ravine. This woman is actually Clara Clayton, Hill Valley's new schoolteacher, and Doc has altered history by saving her from death.

Doc's own history has also been altered by meeting Clara Clayton...
4. George McFly publishes his first book.

Answer: Back to the Future

When Marty returns from 1955, it is to find his family quite changed. His father, who had been a cowardly, unsuccessful man working under Biff Tannen, is now Biff's boss. As Marty watches, amazed, a box arrives at the McFly house: the first printing of his father's first book, a science fiction novel--likely traced back to the books George used to write and not let anyone see when he was a teenager. George McFly is now a published author.
5. Marty McFly is mistaken for an alien from Mars.

Answer: Back to the Future

When Marty drives the DeLorean over 88 miles per hour, he ends up arriving back in 1955, crashing into a barn. The noise of his crash wakes up the nearby household, and the family comes out to investigate. They see Marty come out of the DeLorean wearing the hazmat suit that he had put on to assist Doc with plutonium earlier.

The combination of the car and Marty's suit provoke the boy of the family to compare Marty with an alien on the cover of the boy's science fiction magazine, and soon Marty has been chased off the property by the father and his shotgun.
6. Marty McFly assumes the name Clint Eastwood.

Answer: Back to the Future Part III

When he goes back to 1885, Marty decides to assume the name of actor Clint Eastwood. His image of his idol Eastwood is shattered when the men in 1885 call it a "sissy" name!

Marty imitates Eastwood a few more times during the film. He is almost hung at one point, just as Eastwood's character was in "Hang 'Em High", and at another time he wears the door of a stove under his poncho during a gunfight, just as Eastwood did in "A Fistful of Dollars".
7. Griff Tannen goads Marty McFly into a fight.

Answer: Back to the Future Part II

While in 2015, it is Marty's mission to ensure that his son Marty Jr. is not goaded by Griff Tannen into helping in a robbery, one that Doc tells Marty will see his son going to jail for and Griff escaping from punishment. Marty is to pose as his son and tell Griff that he will not participate.

When the time comes, however, Griff asks Marty if he is chicken. Marty responds, "Nobody calls me a chicken". This fight turns into a chase on hoverboards.
8. The time-traveling DeLorean is destroyed by a freight train.

Answer: Back to the Future Part III

Marty and Doc use the train on the unfinished line going out of Hill Valley to push to DeLorean to help it to get enough speed to travel back from 1885 to 1985. Just at the moment that the DeLorean hits 88 miles per hour and travels to 1985, the train arrives at the ravine where the line ends and falls in, exploding. Marty escapes in the DeLorean, but Doc and Clara Clayton were still aboard.

Back in 1985, Mary arrives on the town's train tracks. He just has time to escape from the car before a train suddenly arrives, destroying it. All that is left is its license plate, reading "OUTTATIME".
9. Marty McFly plays "Johnny B. Goode" with Marvin Berry & the Starlighters.

Answer: Back to the Future

Marvin Berry injures his hand trying to get Marty out of the locked trunk of his car, and so is unable to play guitar for the rest of the "Enchantment Under the Sea" dance. Marty volunteers himself to play guitar, arguing that if his parents can't dance then they won't get married.

After playing backup guitar through "Earth Angel", Marty decides to play a song that "really cooks": "Johnny B. Goode", which will later be recorded by Chuck Berry. As Marty plays, Marvin gets on the telephone and is seen speaking to his cousin, Chuck Berry, telling him that Marty's music is the new sound that Chuck has been looking for. Unfortunately, however, Marty takes it a little too far, devolving into playing 1980's rock guitar. But his parents have already become attached, and Marty's future is secured.
10. Marty McFly is fired from his job after being pushed into an underhand deal.

Answer: Back to the Future Part II

The adult Marty McFly in 2015 is not the person that young Marty had pictured he would become. After being in a car accident, Marty injured his hand and can't play guitar anymore. He works at business with Douglas J. Needles, an enemy of Marty's from 1985. Needles, who is able to push Marty around by calling him chicken, pressures the adult Marty into an underhand business deal.

When Marty's boss finds out, he fires Marty. The young Jennifer, who overhears Marty's firing, saves a piece of paper with the words "YOU'RE FIRED" printed across it. In "Back to the Future Part III", when Marty avoids the car crash that would have injured his hand, Jennifer watches as the words disappear from the paper: Marty has changed his future for the better.
