1. This epic 1963 film tells the story of the relationships between the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra and the Roman Generals Julius Caesar and Mark Antony.

Answer: Cleopatra

One of the most expensive films ever made, "Cleopatra" boasts an all-star cast as well as fantastic costumes and sets. The film tells how Cleopatra uses her charms to win over first Julius Caesar, who is Dictator of Rome for a short time, and, after Caesar's death, how she then married Roman general and Caesar's friend Mark Antony. Antony and Cleopatra lose their war against Caesar's nephew Octavian, and they both choose suicide.

3. Not to be confused with the 1927 silent film nor the 2025 animated movie, this 1961 film tells the story of the life of Jesus Christ.

Answer: King of Kings

Derided by some critics as "I Was a Teenage Jesus", "King of Kings" is a retelling of the life of Jesus, albeit with more of an historical context than many Bible-themed movies. The life of Jesus is woven into depictions of political events of the time, giving a more complete picture of Jerusalem some 2000 years ago.
4. This film is an adaptation of "The Iliad" by the ancient Greek poet Homer.

Brad Pitt, Eric Bana, Diane Kruger, and Orlando Bloom lead a talented cast in the 2004 film "Troy", which details the Greek attack and siege of the fabled city. Helen, the beautiful but unhappy wife of King Menelaus of Sparta, falls in love with Prince Paris of Troy and runs away with him, giving the united Greek forces an excuse to attack the city.
5. In this 1951 film, a Roman general finds himself falling in love with a Christian slave girl during Emperor Nero's persecution of the new religion.

Answer: Quo Vadis

9. A Roman general is betrayed and enslaved after he refuses to follow the new Emperor, who murdered his own father to take the throne.

Answer: Gladiator

An updated version of the 1964 film "The Fall of the Roman Empire", director Ridley Scott's 2000 epic tells the tale of Maximus, a Roman general who suspects that the new Emperor, Commodus, murdered his father and Maximus' benefactor Marcus Aurelius. Ordered to be killed by Commodus, Maximus survives but is enslaved and becomes a gladiator.

He returns to Rome and becomes the favorite of the crowd, all the while waiting for his chance for revenge.
