Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Told to go to all nations (Matthew 28:19)

Answer: the disciples

In Matthew 28:19 in the NKJV, Jesus issued the following command to the disciples: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

The verse has become known as the Great Commission. Shortly after issuing the command, Jesus ascended to Heaven.

Previously, He had been crucified only to rise from the dead after three days.
2. Told to go to Hebron (2 Samuel 2:1)

Answer: Daviid

According to 2 Samuel 2:1, God told David to go to Hebron. Scripture goes on to tell of David being annoited king of Judah.

Meanwhile, Ishbosheth, Saul's son, was king of Israel and a bloody civil war eupted with David's army victorious. With the military victory, David was made king of all of Israel.
3. Told to go to Straight Street (Acts 9:11)

Answer: Ananias

Ananias received divine instructions to go to Straight Street in Damascus to baptize Saul, who would later become known as Paul. The baptism took place after Saul had a dramatic encounter with Christ on the road to Damascus and was rendered sightless for three days.

Interestingly, Straight Street is the only street that is specifically named in the Old and New Testaments.
4. Told to go to Brook Cherith (1 Kings 17:3)

Answer: Elijah

With King Ahab and his wicked wife Jezebel wanting him dead, Elijah received divine instructions to go to Brook Cherith. Miraculously, ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and in the afternoon.

Later, Elijah would receive divine instructions to go to Zarephath where more miracles would unfold.
5. Told in a vision to go to Macedonia (Acts 16:9)

Answer: Paul

According to Acts 16:9, Paul received instructions in a vision to go to Macedonia to preach the Gospel message. The verse in the NKJV states, "And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, 'Come over to Macedonia and help us.'"

The following verse states Paul and his entourage "immediately" sought to go to Macedonia.
6. Told to go to Nineveh

Answer: Jonah

The prophet Jonah received divine instructions to go to Nineveh, but that was apparently the last thing he wanted to do.

Scripture tells of Jonah trying to run from God by boarding a ship bound for Tarshish. After a storm erupted, he was tossed overboard and ended up being swallowed by a gigantic fish.

After miraculously surviving three days inside the stomach of the fish, Jonah was regurgitated onto dry land.

After all this, God got his attention and Jonah headed off to Nineveh.

For complete details see the Book of Jonah, a four-chapter book in the Old Testament.
7. Told to go to Egypt (Matthew 2:13)

Answer: Jospeh, Mary and Baby Jesus

Matthew 2:13 states an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and instructed him to flee to Egypt with his wife Mary and Baby Jesus. The trip to Egypt was necessary to prevent Herod from killing Jesus, according to the verse.

The verse also states they were to stay in Egypt "until I bring you word".
8. Told to go to the Promised Land to investigate (Numbers 13:1-2)

Answer: 12 spies

Moses selected 12 men -- one from each tribe -- to enter Canaan, known as the Promised Land, to spy out the district before the Israelites moved in.

However, ten of the spies came back with negative reports saying the land was inhabited by giants and the Israelites would never be able to conquer the land. Two spies -- Joshua and Caleb -- saw things differently. They saw unlimited potential based on the belief God would lead them to victory.

For further details, see Numbers 13:1-33 and 14:1-10.
9. Told to go to "the land that I will show you" (Genesis 12:1)

Answer: Abraham

Abraham, who was known as Abram at the time, is the correct answer.

Genesis 12:1 in the NKJV states: "Now the Lord had said to Abram: 'Get out of your country, from your family and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you."

Verses 2 and 3 go onto state: "I will make you a great nation; I will bless you
and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."

According to Scripture, Abraham was 75 years old at the time and he was accompanied by his wife Sarah and nephew Lot.
10. Told to go to Gaza (Acts 8:26)

Answer: Philip

Philip received instructions from an angel to go to Gaza, as per Acts 8:26. It was there he met up with an Ethiopian eunuch who had travelled to Jerusalem to worship.

Philip used the occasion to convert the Ethiopian to Christianity. According to Scripture, the man was "of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians."

Going strictly by what is printed in the Bible, the Ethiopian eunuch was the first believer in Africa in a resurrected Jesus Christ.
