Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

The plain of Shinar, in what is now southern Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq), was home to the city of Babel, also called Babylon. Barbel is mentioned in the story of Tower of Babel, Book of Genesis 11:1-9.

Damascus will be reduced to a heap of rubble after being totally destroyed. The prophecy, which predicts Damascus' demise as a major force and its transformation into a barren ruin, is a judgement on the city and its allies for their conceit and disobedience to God. Reference can be found in Isaiah 17:1.

God sent Jonah to preach to the great city of Nineveh. Nineveh was a very important place as it was the largest city of the Neo-Assyrian Empire. Jonah got swallowed by a very large fish because he went against God's wishes. Reference can be found in Jonah 1:17

The Israelites conquered Jericho when the walls collapsed as a result of the people screaming and shouting while the priests' trumpets rang out, enabling the Israelite army to enter and conquer the city. Reference can be found in Joshua 6:20.

Accad was one of the cities near Babel, in the land of Shinar, part of Nimrod's kingdom. Although the city's precise position is unknown, it is thought to be close to the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in present-day Iraq. Reference to Accad can be found in Genesis 10:10.

The people of Gibeon conned the Israelites to keep them from destroying the city. They requested a peace treaty while pretending to come from a far-off place by wearing worn-out clothing and carrying stale food. After Joshua and the Israelites signed the pact, they realised the Gibeonites were indeed their neighbours. Reference can be found in Joshua 9.

Kadesh could be found in the southern part of Palestine, very close to modern-day Tell El-Qudeirat. The Israelites spent many years in tents or huts as temporary accommodation during their wilderness journey. It is also the place from which Moses sent his spies to explore the area of Canaan, as recorded in Numbers 13:1-2.

Hebron is one of the four holy cities in Judaism and has special meaning in Islam. The village of Hebron is associated with the Israelites' ancestors, including Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and David. Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebekah and Leah are buried in a cave in Hebron. Reference can be found in Genesis 49:31.

The biblical city of Mephaath is mostly connected to the land given to the tribe of Reuben. It is one of the cities granted to the Merarite clan of the Levites. You will find more information in Joshua 13:18.

In the story of Samson and Delilah, Delilah betrayed Samson by cutting off his hair, and the Philistines captured him in Gaza. That was not the end, though! God gave Samson a second chance and gave back his strength, even though he died destroying the Philistine temple. Reference can be found in Judges 16.
