Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Woman who saved David's life when she put an idol in his bed, covered it, and pretended it was him (1 Samuel 19:13)

Answer: Michal

David's first wife, Michal saved his life by using some deception, according to
the 19th chapter of 1 Samuel.

Scripture tells of Michal's father, King Saul, sending men to David's house to kill him in the morning. However, Michal enabled David to escape by letting him down through a window.

Then Michal took an idol and laid it on the bed, covering it with a garment and putting some goats' hair at the head.

When Saul's men entered the room to kill David, she told them he was ill, so the men returned to King Saul with the news.

Verses 15 and 16 in the NKJV explains what happened next: "Then Saul sent the men back to see David and told them, 'Bring him up to me in his bed so that I may kill him.' But when the men entered, there was the idol in the bed, and at the head was some goats' hair."

2. Israelite man Rahab the prostitute married (Matthew 1:5)

Answer: Salmon

According to the New Testament, Rahab, the famous prostitute of Jericho, married Salmon, an Israelite, and they had a child named Boaz.

The information is contained in Matthew 1:5, part of a passage telling of the genealogy of Christ.

Boaz would marry Ruth, another Gentile woman, who would also become part of the genealogy of Christ.
3. Woman Abraham married after Sarah's death (Genesis 25:1-6)

Answer: Keturah

The second wife of Abraham was Keturah, as per Genesis 25:1-6. According to the passage, Keturah bore six sons. They were Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah.

It should be pointed out in 1 Chronicles 1:32 in the NKJV, Keturah is referred to as a concubine and not a wife. However, in Genesis 25:1, she is described as Abraham's wife.

According to various Websites, her name means 'incense'.
4. Wicked woman whose body was trampled by horses and eaten by dogs (2 Kings 9:30-37)

Answer: Jezebel

Jezebel, the wife of King Ahab, is generally regarded as the most wicked woman in the Bible. Perhaps that's why she suffered a gruesome death.

According to Scripture, she was tossed from an upper window by her assistants and ended up being trampled by horses with dogs eating what was left of her.

Jezebel was a fierce opponent of prophets of God such as Elijah and a fervent promoter of the false god Baal.

For details about her gruesome death, see 2 Kings 9:30-37.
5. Prophet whose bones resulted in a dead man coming back to life (2 Kings 13:20-21)

Answer: Elisha

According to Scripture, the bones of Elisha resulted in a dead man coming back to life. Details can be found in 2 Kings 13:20-21.

The verses tell of the body of an unnamed dead man being placed into a tomb. The man's body ended up touching the bones of Elisha and miraculously the man came back to life.

No further details are given.
6. High profile wife of relatively unknown Lapidoth

Answer: Deborah

Deborah was the dynamic judge of Israel, being the only female to serve in such a role. On top of this, she was a prophetess.

Without question, one of Deborah's biggest accomplishments was helping lead the Israelites to a spectacular military victory over the Canaanites led by Sisera. The victory was followed by 40 years of peace for Israel.

While Deborah's name appears multiple times in Scripture, her husband Lapidoth is mentioned in only passing reference.
7. Son of David who murdered his half brother Amnon (2 Samuel 13:23-33)

Answer: Absalom

Absalom, the son of David and Maacah, killed his half brother Amnon after he raped Tamar. Amnon's mother was Ahinoam while Tamar was a full sister of Absalom.

According to 2 Samuel 13, Absalom killed Amnon in an act of revenge.

Amnon was David's firstborn son and heir apparent. Later, Absalom would lead a coup attempt against David, but would end up being killed on the battlefield by Joab.
8. Man who sexually assaulted Dinah (Genesis 34)

Answer: Shechem

Dinah, the daughter of Jacob and Leah, was sexually assaulted by Shechem, as per Genesis 34.

Shechem was the son of Hamor, described in Scripture as a Hivite and prince of the land.

Scripture goes on to tell of Dinah's brothers, Simeon and Levi, exacting revenge by killing Shechem and all the males in his town.
9. Grandson who was cursed by Noah (Genesis 9:20-27)

Answer: Canaan

According to Genesis 9:20-27, after surviving the Great Flood, Noah became a farmer and planted a vineyard. The passage tells of Noah making wine and becoming drunk, passing out naked in side his tent.

Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his nude father and then told his two brothers Shem and Japheth about what he had seen. The two brothers responded by walking backward into the tent to cover up their father without seeing him nude.

When Noah learned what Ham had done, he proceeded to curse Ham's son Canaan. In Verse 25, Noah is quoted as saying: "Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves he shall be to his brothers".

Noah then proceeded to bless his two other sons, Shem and Japheth.
10. Man associated with being among first to "call on the name of the LORD" (Genesis 4:26)

Answer: Enosh

The facts are clear Adam and Eve were the first people to talk with God.

However, when it comes to "calling on the name of the LORD", Enosh was among the first to do so. There is some debate about what exactly "calling on the name of the LORD" implies, but many people believe it means prayer.

Genesis 4:26 in the NKJV states: "And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on the name of the LORD."

Seth was the third son of Adam and Eve.
