Answer: 1935

After playing for the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees of the American League, Ruth went to the Boston Braves of the National League in his final season in 1935. He died in 1948.
2. In the early days of professional basketball, this Minneapolis Laker team had the first real big man that dominated the court. The team moved to Los Angeles after his retirement. Who was this center that was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1959?

Answer: George Mikan

The others had not begun their careers yet for at least another 10 seasons. In his rookie season in 1949, George took his Lakers in the BAA to the championship over the Washington Capitals. In 1950, the Lakers joined the NBA, and Mikan helped the Lakers to more championships in 1950, 1952, and 1953.
3. Danny Almonte got his Bronx team disqualified for being two years over the age limit in the Little League World Series. When did this happen?

Almonte, who was discovered to be 14, made national news when his team was disqualified for him being older than the 12-year-old limit. Danny pitched for the Rolando Paulino All-Stars from the Bronx, New York.

The Philadelphia franchise began as the Quakers, then changed their name in 1890 to the Phillies. In 1980, they had it all with the names of Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton, and put it all together under the management of Dallas Green.

Answer: John J. McDermott

McDermott was the first in 1911, then did an encore by winning it in 1912 also. In 1913, the media had a field day when a 20-year amateur, Francis Ouimet, won the tournament which boosted the sport in the country.

Answer: 1968

The North Stars had just contracted Masterton for their first season in 1967-68. It has still been undetermined as to what happened in the accident, whether he was tripped or tripped himself, but did indeed hit the back of his head on the ice and later died.

Answer: Trojans

Behind Reggie Bush, the Trojans tried to repeat in 2005, but were halted by Vince Young and the Texas Longhorns 41-38, in the Rose Bowl of Pasadena.

Answer: 1984

Marino played his entire career in Miami from 1983-1999. Wide receiver Mark Clayton caught 18 of those 48 touchdown passes. Although finishing the season with a 14-2 record, the Dolphins lost the Super Bowl to the San Francisco 49ers, 38-16.
