Zach Curlin began coaching the Memphis Tigers in 1924. He remained the coach until 1948, where the school had changed their name to Memphis State College. Zach Curlin street is on the eastern side of the University of Memphis campus.

Elliot Perry (34) a.k.a Socks, was a solid point guard always known for the high socks he wore while playing basketball. Larry Finch (21) played under Gene Bartow on the 1973 National runner-up team, and was the coach of the Tigers from 1986-1997.
