Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. New England Patriots legendary quarterback. Played a few years for the Buccaneers to end his career.

Answer: Tom Brady

Tom Brady essentially defined the 21st century for the New England Patriots, who drafted him at the turn of the century where he'd play until 2019. In this time, Brady led the team to a staggering six Super Bowl victories, four in which he was the MVP. He ended his career with three seasons at Tampa Bay 2020-2022.
2. Indianapolis Colts legend. Spent some time with the Denver Broncos at the end of his career.

Answer: Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning was drafted by Indianapolis in 1998, and became a legendary franchise quarterback for the team after a similarly iconic brutal rookie season. Manning was a Colt until 2011, and spent the last few seasons (2012-15) with the Denver Broncos. As a Colt, he won one Super Bowl (Feb. 2007), and he won his second in his final season with Denver in season 2015 (played Feb. 2016).
3. Super Bowl winning quarterback with the Baltimore Ravens, went on to end his career as a journeyman. Managed to make it into his forties as a productive QB.

Answer: Joe Flacco

Flacco was drafted by Baltimore in 2008, where he would remain until 2018. In the 2012 season, Flacco's Ravens outdueled the San Francisco 49ers to win Super Bowl XLVII.

After 2018, Flacco was released by Baltimore. For the ensuing eight seasons, he would spend time with the Denver Broncos (2019), New York Jets (2020 & 2021-22), very briefly the Eagles in 2021, the Browns (2023, 2025) and the Cincinatti Bengals (2025, 2026).
4. St Louis Rams legend who began his career as a Colt. He once had over 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in the same season.

Answer: Marshall Faulk

In 1999 Faulk ran for 1381 yards and gained an additional 1048 through the air. Faulk not only gained yardage, he also produced points. In 2000, he broke the record for most touchdowns scored in a season with 26. Faulk came into the league in 1994, drafted by Indianapolis. Once his rookie contract was up, Faulk was signed by the Rams for the 1999 season, where he'd spend the rest of his career that ended in 2005.
5. He first played with the NY Jets and then the Washington Redskins. He held the record for most touchdowns scored with 24 until Emmit Smith surpassed it in 1995.

Answer: John Riggins

In his career, Riggins played on the Jets from 1971-75. He joined Washington in 1976, where he would play out the remainder of his non-contract dispute impeded years. In his 1983 season specifically, he set a then-record 24 rushing touchdowns in one season.

He was also MVP of Super Bowl XVII when he rushed for a then record 166 yards. Riggins became a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992.
6. New Orleans Saints legend. Led the team to their first Super Bowl victory. Drafted by the then-San Diego Chargers.

Answer: Drew Brees

Brees was drafted by the Chargers in 2001, but was let go by the team after his rookie contract ended, infamously citing concerns over his potentially career-threatening injury he had suffered in the 2004 season. He joined the Saints in season 2005. As a Saint, Brees was the franchise staple for fourteen years, retiring after the 2020 season.

He was the MVP of Super Bowl XLIV, where the Saints defeated Peyton Manning's Indianapolis Colts 31-17. He threw a total of 571 touchdowns in his career, where Saints fans enjoyed year after year of Brees turning a wide variety of receivers into dangerous, explosive threats.
7. Once a Buffalo Bill, he pulled off one of the most famous runs in NFL history as a Seattle Seahawk. Also known for once 'just (being) here so I don't get fined'.

Answer: Marshawn Lynch

Lynch was drafted by Buffalo in 2007, and remained there until 2009. His first season with Seattle came in the 2010 season, where his most famous play came during the NFC Wild Card vs the New Orleans Saints (played on Jan. 8, 2011). Dubbed "Beast Quake", Lynch put forth an unimaginable effort, shedding several tackles single handedly en route to a 67 yard touchdown.

It's difficult to properly quantify just how amazing the run was, but it was truly an amazing feat that will forever have a place in NFL history.
8. Mostly a San Diego Chargers mainstay. Made a very surprising comeback in his mid forties in 2025 to play for the Colts.

Answer: Philip Rivers

The majority of Rivers' career was spent on the San Diego Chargers. The team became the Los Angeles Chargers in 2017, and Rivers' time with the team lasted from 2004-2019. In 2020, Rivers played one last year with the Indianapolis Colts, retiring at the age of 40...

Or so the NFL world thought. With the Colts' quarterbacking depth devastated by injury, the team made a very surprising call to Rivers in 2025, which he accepted. He played three games for the team, in which he played surprisingly well for a 45 year old that had been out of action for five years. Sadly, it was not enough to help prevent the Colts' season from spiraling out of control, and the team did not make the playoffs.
9. Legendary Detroit Lions Wide Receiver. Known as "Megatron"

Answer: Calvin Johnson

Johnson spent the entirety of his career with the Detroit Lions, an eight year stretch between 2007-2015. Despite the relatively abbreviated outing, Johnson was doubtlessly one of the absolute best receivers in football during his playing time. He ultimately caught 83 touchdowns and went off for over 11,000 yards.

In 2021, his first year of eligibility, he was elected to the NFL Hall of Fame.
10. Legendary tight end of seventeen years, spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons

Answer: Tony Gonzalez

A Hall of Famer, elected in 2019, Gonzalez went down as one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history. He went to the Pro Bowl fourteen times and retired with the most receptions (1,325) and reception yards (15,127) for a tight end in NFL history. Gonzalez is well known both his contributions as a Kansas City Chief (1997-2008) and an Atlanta Falcon (2009-2013).
