Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How did the Defiant go back in time?

Answer: Arne Darvin used the Orb of Time.

Barry Waddle, aka Arne Darvin, used the Orb of Time to get the Defiant to go back to the time of his arrest on Deep Space Station K-7. He wanted to prevent that from happening, so he attempted to kill Kirk.
2. Who has the largest file on record at the office of Temporal Investigations as of 2367?

Answer: James T. Kirk

According to Dulmer and Lucsly, Kirk has the largest file on record, at a whopping 17 temporal violations. I guess it's a good thing he isn't around for them to get their hands on him.
3. Who does Sisko send to Deep Space Station K-7 to find Arne Darvin?

Answer: Odo and Worf

Two teams (consisting of O'Brien/Bashir and Sisko/Dax) boarded the Enterprise, and one team went to K-7 (Odo/Worf). Can you guess why? Remember, Odo wasn't a changeling anymore, so he couldn't morph to look like a regular crewmember on the Enterprise. And Worf, of course, would have stuck out like a sore thumb on the Enterprise, not to mention alarm quite a few crew members.
4. What is the last name of Bashir's great-grandmother?

Answer: Whatley

Bashir and O'Brien twice ran into Lt. Watley in the turbolift, and just as she got off the turbolift the second time, she told the doctor her name and when her physical was later that day. When he heard her name, Bashir mentioned that her last name was the same as his great-grandmother's name.

He also mentioned that the meeting could be a predestination paradox, and that he was destined to fall in love with her. Luckily, that didn't seem to be true since the doctor returned to the present and didn't cease to exist.
5. What was the clue that tipped off Odo to the fact that Darvin had been in the bar prior to Odo's arrival?

Answer: Raktajino

Raktajino is a Klingon coffee that Kingons enjoy, as well as other species. K-7 does not have any Klingon beverages, so the waitress asked Odo what it was because somebody else had ordered it. Odo was positive that other person was Darvin since no other Klingons were on the station or nearby (as far as he knew).
6. According to Worf, in what century were the Tribbles finally eradicated?

Answer: 23rd

Worf had commented that the Kingons finally erased the Tribbles from existence by the end of the 23rd century. Little did he know that they came back with the Defiant, and therefore they are living again (on DS9, unless they were relocated).
7. How many tribbles did Dax calculate to be around in the station and on the Enterprise?

Answer: 1,771,561

"1,771,561. That's assuming starting with one tribble with an average litter of ten, reproducing every 12 hours..." --Dax/Spock. Spock also calculated the number when Kirk asked him in 2268.
8. How did the Defiant crew beam over to the Enterprise without the Enterprise detecting them?

Answer: There was a three second window between sensor scan cycles.

The Defiant remained undetected because the Enterprise used a old duonetic style sensor grid that had a three second delay between scan cycles. O'Brien used this time to decloak the ship, beam over the away teams, and recloak the ship.

Don't forget, they had to uncloak to beam, so the Enterprise could have discovered the Defiant if O'Brien had not found that sensor window.
9. Obviously, the tribbles do not like Worf. When asked by Capt. Sisko why Worf shouldn't go to the station for the second time, what excuse does Odo make up for him?

Answer: Worf's allergic to the tribbles.

Capt. Sisko wants Odo, O'Brien, Bashir, and Worf to go back to K-7 to look for the bomb that Darvin has put inside the tribble. Odo suggests that Worf stay aboard the Defiant, and Sisko asks why. Odo makes up an excuse so Worf does not have to face any embarrassment, and his honor can remain intact.
10. Dulmer and Lucsly chide Captain Sisko for interacting with Captain Kirk at the end, just before the Defiant came back to the 24th century.

Answer: False

No, they didn't. In fact, Dulmer remarked that he would have probably done it too. There wasn't any harm in it, and Captain Sisko didn't do any damage just becuase he handed a duty roster to Captain Kirk.
