Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Sit Neon Dull Etch Offer Effort

Answer: City On The Edge Of Forever

Joan Collins guest starred in this fan favorite episode, at the urging of her then 4-year-old daughter.

Harlan Ellison wrote the initial story. But with several uncharacteristic traits given to the established characters, Roddenberry had several rewrites done. Ellison did not like this, and asked for a pseudonym credit. Roddenberry refused to do this.
2. Dull Carbon Eight Man Over

Answer: The Corbomite Maneuver

This episode highlights Kirk's bluffing skills, convincing Balok that his ship would be destroyed by the corbomite device installed on the Enterprise.

Then-child actor Clint Howard portrays Balok; not the puppet, but the real one. Howard eventually was a guest actor on five different "Star Trek" productions.
3. Pal Ants Off Tear

Answer: Balance Of Terror

Mark Lenard appears as Romulan commander, before he played Spock's father, Sarek.

This episode established that Romulans never met face-to-face with humans, despite the humans and Romulans having a war a century before this episode was set.
4. Churn He Two Babe Hell

Answer: Journey to Babel

This episode features Spock's parents - Sarek and Amanda - as the Vulcan ambassador and his wife. This is a fact that Spock's friend Kirk did not know. This is one of many times that some secret of Spock's early life comes to Kirk's attention. Spock also failed to mention that he had an older half-brother (movie "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier") and an adopted human sister ("Star Trek: Discovery").
5. Our Renal

Answer: Arena

This episode's story is somewhat countered by events from "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds". In the latter, the Federation has a short war with the Gorn. The nature of the Gorn is extensively explored. However, in the episode "Star Trek" episode "Arena", Kirk is surprised that the Gorn that he meets is a large reptile.
6. Core To March All

Answer: Court Martial

"Court Martial" is another fan favorite, delving into the personal history of Captain Kirk. It's an intense legal drama that could've easily been written in a contemporary or historical setting. It also introduces us to another lost love of Kirk's, Lieutenant Areel Shaw of the JAG Corps.
7. Dull App Pull

Answer: The Apple

In this episode, four red-shirts (security officers) are killed: by exploding rock, by lightning, by poisonous flower darts, and by being clubbed in the head. The viewer should expect this high body count because the landing party involved beaming down two groups of personnel.

Also in this episode was a strange character error: after the landing party reported the first death, Commander Scott (who had the bridge) said he wished he was down on the planet enjoying the climate. Gee, Scotty, you want to go down to a planet where someone was just killed?

This episode had guest actor David Soul as Makora. He would later star in the police procedural "Starsky & Hutch".
8. Holler Yes Turd Daze

Answer: All Our Yesterdays

This penultimate episode of "Star Trek" is another fan favorite.

This episode featured Mr. Atoz, the librarian of the Sarpeidon Time Library. This was actor Ian Wolfe's second appearance in "TOS." He previously appeared in the episode "Bread and Circuses" as Septimus, one of the Son worshipers on planet 892-IV.

This episode co-starred Mariette Hartley as Zarabeth, the lonely exile that Spock and McCoy meet in the ice age past of Sarpeidon. Her costume that she wore in the cave scenes was a two-piece fur bikini. However, censors deemed that too risque, so they insisted that her navel not be shown. (Another show of the time, "I Dream of Jeannie", had a similar issue about showing Barbara Eden's navel. ) Years later, Hartley starred in another Gene Roddenberry production, "Genesis II". To comment on the earlier censorship, Roddenberry gave her character two navels.
9. Dull Markov Giddy Eon

Answer: The Mark Of Gideon

This episode uses the sets of the Enterprise without any crew, as the Gideonites were trying to trick Captain Kirk into thinking he was the sole survivor of his ship.
10. Sure Leaf

Answer: Shore Leave

The planet in this episode had a computer system that read people's minds and recreated whatever fantasy they were thinking of. Unfortunately, the Enterprise's landing party didn't know this and got into some deadly situations.

A major goof in this episode: the planet was supposed to be devoid of animal life, sentient or not. However, the glade where the first scenes of this episode were filmed had several logs lying around that were obviously machine-cut.
