1. Who played the role of Alex P. Keaton on the television sitcom "Family Ties"?

Answer: Michael J. Fox

The series ran on NBC from 1982 to 1989. It was about a family that could not be possibly anymore different. Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter played Steven and Elyse Keaton. The two were a pair of self-described hippies. They had four children: Alex, Mallory, Jennifer, and Andrew. Alex, played by Fox, was power- and money-hungry.

He could best be described as a yuppie. He was constantly giving his parents grief over the way he thought and did things. He was not afraid to voice his opinion and was proud to be a Republican.

The other three children were not as extreme in their views as Alex. Michael J. Fox won three consecutive Emmy Awards for this role.

Charlie Sheen starred in "Spin City" for the show's final two seasons as Charlie Crawford; this character replaced the show's former starring character Mike Flaherty, who was played by Michael J. Fox. Fox left the series after his Parkinson's disease symptoms emerged.

After "Spin City", Sheen began starring in "Two and a Half Men" as Charlie Harper in 2003. After Sheen went a bit off the deep end in 2011, he was fired from the show and his character was killed off. In 2012, Sheen began starring in "Anger Management" as Charlie Goodson.
