Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the opening scene, we see a girl performing extraordinary stunts and tricks inside of an arena. What is she doing?

Answer: She is skateboarding.

The girl (Della) is demonstrating her expertise in skateboarding in order to raise funds for a charity event. As she takes her brother out to the track, she suddenly feels faint and falls unconscious to the floor.
2. House announces to his team that he is seeing Cuddy. Foreman is reluctantly congratulatory. How does Wilson respond? Please note that Wilson and House are always playing practical jokes on each other.

Answer: Wilson thinks that it is another one of House's pranks.

After the announcement, Wilson leaves the room, saying that he is going to check his office for "whoopie cushions." House characterizes each team member's reaction as follows: "In favor, indifferent and indignant," for Foreman, Taub and Chase, respectively.
3. After some discussion over a diagnosis for Della, what sort of test does House order for a test of unusual heart activity? The idea is to stimulate the electrical activity of the heart.

Answer: a scare test

House wants to perform a "scare" test, in order to confirm a diagnosis of "Long QT Syndrome." The other members of the team are concerned about the inherent risks of such a test.
4. House is having a difficult time trying to convince Wilson about the veracity of the relationship between House and Cuddy. Cuddy provides confirmation in a provocative manner. What does she do?

Answer: Cuddy places her hand between the top of House's legs.

After Cuddy kisses House, Wilson remarks that he has exchanged more passionate kisses with his great aunt. Cuddy is in a hurry to go to a meeting, so she places her hand in a conspicuous place. Wilson is duly convinced. Afterwards, House says, "And she didn't even ask me to cough."
5. In a particularly funny aside, House sees a patient presenting with fatigue and weakness. The patient's son demands a full spectrum of testing to be done. House blithely offers to include carbon-dating as part of the testing regimen. To which age group does this patient belong?

Answer: The patient is 102 years old.

The person accompanying the patient insists that he will pay for any and all testing. After which, the patient's cohort points out that he is the patient's son. House simply tells the patient, "You have a bad case of natural causes."
6. Having entered into a relationship, House suddenly finds that his relationship with Cuddy may be affecting her judgment. Bear in mind that Cuddy is almost always resistant to House's unorthodox ideas. But now, things seem to be different. What policy has Cuddy seem to have adopted?

Answer: Cuddy is too agreeable.

Ostensibly, Cuddy appears to agree with practically any course of action presented by House. House, of course, realizes that their relationship may be dictating and negatively influencing Cuddy's judgment.
7. Returning to the father and son subplot, the father tries to bribe House. What does the father want?

Answer: The father wants to move to a nursing home.

The father declares that living with his son is stifling him. He wants some measure of independence. He gives House one hundred dollars to falsify his medical tests.
8. It appears that Della's condition is life threatening. It may be possible to prolong or extend Della's life with an transplant. From whom can Della receive a lung transplant?

Answer: Hugo, her brother.

Della doesn't want to shorten the life of her brother with the acceptance of his donated lung. On the other hand, Hugo is willing to make a supreme sacrifice for his sister.
9. What is one of the major reasons for not accepting a lung donation from Hugo?

Answer: He has muscular dystrophy.

If Hugo donates a lung to his sister, it may cut his own life expectancy in half. Even though, Hugo is quite unselfish and wants to help his sister, his parents are opposed. Cuddy is opposed since she insists, "We don't compromise one life for another."
10. The father and son duo sit in the waiting room. House quickly comes to the conclusion that there is something particularly sinister about something that the father uses on a daily basis. What is it?

Answer: Denture cream

House astutely observes that high usage of a denture cream resulted in a form of Zinc toxicity. Therefore, he maintains that the father can stay at home with his son. House returns the bribes received from them both, declaring that it is a hospital rebate.
