Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the opening scene, a man is busy at work. His wife calls and the man explains that he is involved in a meeting, discussing contracts. What is he really doing?

Answer: He appears to be cleaning a crime scene.

The man is scrubbing blood from the floor with a brush. The room is in disarray and it appears a violent struggle has taken place. However, he tells his wife that he is in a business meeting.
2. Bert arrives at an elegant restaurant to meet his wife for their third anniversary. While toasting to their anniversary, Bert experiences extreme discomfort and a noticeable symptom. What happens?

Answer: He has trouble breathing and develops a severe rash.

At the restaurant, Bert eats something which is still moving. Bert appears to go into anaphylactic shock. He gasps for breath and a severe rash appears on his hand.
3. House has been invited to attend a charity event. Who is scheduled to receive an award at this event?

Answer: Cuddy

House tries to avoid an encounter with Cuddy in the elevator. Cuddy catches up with House, though. She expresses her desire for House to appear at the gala charity event where she will be receiving an award.
4. House's team discusses the new patient. Which of the team members suggest that the patient is not being truthful?

Answer: Masters

As the team ponders how the patient could have an allergic reaction, Masters declares that the patient is lying about his job. Chase reads from the chart and it states that the patient is a real-estate developer. Masters says, "He's lying." She notes the calluses and cuts on his hands and submits that he is doing some kind of manual labor.
5. Having discovered that the patient has been working with potentially dangerous materials, House instructs Taub and Foreman to investigate the patient's office. To which famous duo does House refer in making this assignment?

Answer: Bert and Ernie

Taub and Foreman are roommates. House makes a reference to Bert and Ernie from "Sesame Street." Chase makes a joke about the depiction, but Taub and Foreman are not amused.
6. The team is perplexed at the most recent symptom presented by Bert. This time it is a mental manifestation. What happens?

Answer: Bert has a psychotic episode.

Bert has a psychotic breakdown. He strikes his wife and locks himself in the bathroom. In addition, he has hallucinations. This new symptom substantially complicates any potential diagnosis.
7. Foreman has been increasingly annoyed with Taub. Taub tries to make amends by cooking dinner. What is the unfortunate result?

Answer: They both get diarrhea.

It seems that cooking is not Taub's forte. His dinner results in a case of diarrhea for both of them. During a team meeting, they both scamper to the bathroom. Naturally, House makes light of the situation.
8. Wilson is having a serious discussion with a patient. Suddenly, blaring music interrupts the conversation. What is happening?

Answer: House is auditioning a Mariachi band.

Wilson encounters House auditioning a Mariachi band with the intent of hiring the band for Cuddy's award ceremony. Wilson is a bit perturbed since he feels that this is House's attempt to sabotage the event.
9. Is it true that Bert finally discloses to his wife the duplicitous life that he has been living?

Answer: Yes

For the duration of the patient's stay, Chase has been trying to protect the patient while Masters has been adamant that the patient reveal the truth to his wife. Bert finally tells the truth. However, his wife does not take it well and asserts that she is finished with him. Later, she recants her acrimony and reveals her own secret. She is pregnant.
10. House arrives at a correct diagnosis. However, is it in time to save the patient?

Answer: No

Even though House discovers the correct diagnosis, it is too late to administer treatment to the patient. Tragically, the patient dies. Naturally, this provides fodder for self-doubt about his efficacy as a diagnostician. Nevertheless, House is willing to sacrifice his diagnostic skill in order to maintain his relationship with Cuddy.
