Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Answer: Lieutenant General Shepherd
In "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2", Lt. Gen. Shepherd is the commander of the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Army Rangers, Task Force 141 and his own elite force called the 'Shadow Company.' While he begins the game as a supporting character, he eventually is revealed to be the game's primary antagonist and the mastermind behind the onset of World War III.
2. Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Answer: Cliff Racers
Cliff Racers are aggressive flying creatures (that look like something like pterodactyls) that are amongst the many creatures that can be encountered in "Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind". What makes these creatures so abhorrent is their persistence annoyance. It doesn't matter how many times you defeat them in the game, they will keep coming back, and can attack at any time.
3. Horizon Zero Dawn
Answer: Ted Faro
Theodor "Ted" Faro was the founder, owner, and chairman of the robotics and technology corporation Faro Automated Solutions (FAS), which he established in the year 2033. In its early years, FAS was popular with its robotics development and technology developed to clean up the environment, but Faro eventually moved into military applications. In 2046, his robots went rogue, due to a glitch, and the resultant near-extinction of life on Earth was due to this "Faro Plague." And even with a plan in place to try to reprogram the robots and rebuild humanity on Earth, it is revealed that he prevented humanity from recovering by deleting the archive repository of knowledge and killing the remaining Zero Dawn team members so it could not be reconstituted.
In "Horizon Zero Dawn," it is now the 31st century, and Earth is populated by machines, with only small tribal groups of primitive humans. Ted Faro still exists, having determined a way to extend his life, but has become something non-human. He is discovered by the game's protagonist, Aloy, a member of the seafaring tribe known as the Quen.
4. The Last of Us Part 2
Answer: Abby
Even though Abby Anderson is a playable character in "The Last of Us Part 2", she is almost universally despised. She kills off the most beloved character of the franchise - Joel Miller - the main protagonist from the first game of the series.
While the game developers might have not have intended Abby to be a villain, she is perceived as such, in spite of her character's justification for killing of Joel. In the game, Joel saves Abby from a horde of infected, without realizing that she was the daughter of Jerry, who Joel killed at the end of the first game.
Abby shoots Joel through the leg, then ties a tourniquet to keep him from bleeding out while he is secured to the wall. She then beats him with a golf club before finally smashing his head in.
5. Mass Effect 3
Answer: Kai Leng
Kai Leng is an assassin and a member of the military human-survivalist group, Cerberus. Prior to his appearance in the video game "Mass Effect 3", Kai Leng appeared in other media within the franchise, including a comic book series, and a couple of novels. In every case, he is an unlikeable character, who fights against the protagonist Colonel Shepard.
When he appears in the game, Kai Leng typically ends up killing a member of your (Colonel Shepard's) team, boasts his prowess, and then runs away. Eventually, however, retribution is earned as the detestable character meets his end at Shepard's hands.
6. Mortal Kombat X
Answer: D'Vorah
D'Vorah is a member of an insectoid race called the Kytinn. She made her debut in the "Mortal Kombat" franchise with "Mortal Kombat X", released in 2015.
While D'Vorah isn't the main antagonist in the game, she is set up rather spectacularly in the game's Story Mode to be hated, when she is able to kill off three longstanding and beloved, iconic characters in Mileena, Scorpion, and Baraka.
In "Mortal Kombat 11", D'Vorah becomes a playable character, while still acting the part of a minor antagonist in the game's Story Mode.
7. Pokemon Diamond & Pearl
Answer: Mindy
Mindy is a minor character in "Pokemon Diamond and Pearl", and she can be encountered in the north-westernmost house.
What makes Mindy so unlikeable is the fact that she only exists to troll players and waste their time. When encountered, Mindy offers to you a Haunter for a Medicham... which most players would accept, expecting to be able to evolve the Haunter into a Gengar. But, once you accept the trade, Mindy taunts you and reveals that the Haunter has an Everstone on it, and can't evolve. She won't trade back, and you are subsequently forced to find a new Medicham to replace the one you just lost.
8. Red Dead Redemption
Answer: Edgar Ross
In the initial installment of the "Red Dead Redemption" franchise (released in 2010), Edgar Ross is a longtime lawman who has become corrupt and downright rotten. With a mandate to rid the region of outlaw gangs, he ends up forcing former outlaw John Marsten (the main protagonist) back into the life to help track his former associates in such a way as to prevent anyone becoming a martyr. To make this happen, Ross kidnaps Marsten's wife and son.
And in the end, after doing everything Ross asked, Marsten tries to return to his normal life, only to have Ross renege on their 'arrangement.' Ross brings a band of FBI, US Army and US Marshals to assault the Marsten farm, and Marsten is killed.
9. Red Dead Redemption 2
Answer: Micah Bell
In a similar way to Edgar Ross and John Marsten from "Red Dead Redemption", Micah Bell is the main antagonist in "Red Redemption 2", and he is even more reprehensible in his dealings with the main character of Arthur Morgan.
Micah Bell, however, is not a lawman, and is quite simply a brutal outlaw, skilled in his chosen extralegal trade, but generally disliked by everyone. Bell and Morgan are both members of the same gang, but eventually they have a falling out, with both claiming the other as being traitorous to the group. Bell ends up confronting Morgan, tormenting him and having absolutely no empathy for Morgan's tuberculosis, eventually killing him with a cheap shot.
10. Resident Evil 4
Answer: Regeneradores
Regeneradores first appeared in the fourth installment of the "Resident Evil" franchise, the products of Spanish Los Iluminados' research in Plaga-based bio-weapons.
The creatures are very difficult to kill, requiring precision to kill five parasites found on different parts of the Regenerador's body. And, until they are all killed, they just keep coming at you. Fighting one by itself is bad enough, but it is extremely difficult to fight off a group of them that just keep coming at you.
