EA Sports video games are popular across a number of video game platforms, and are simulation style games that cover many different sports. EA Sports was created in 1991, even though some games made famous by EA Sports were created before the parent company was founded. For example, the "Madden NFL" franchise had its first game release in 1988. The "Madden NFL" franchise has become arguably the most successful sports video game franchise ever.
"Triple Play Baseball" was the first version of EA Sports' MLB video game series. "MVP Baseball" replaced the "Triple Play" series with its debut in 2003. "RBI Baseball" debuted in 1995 as an alternative baseball video game option. "MLB: The Show" first released in 2006, and its in-game option to create your own superstar, sets it apart from the EA Sports baseball games.
Fans were disappointed when it was announced that "NCAA Football" would not be renewed after the 2014 game. The college football video game franchise was much beloved by its fans, so the non-renewal was a shock to most. After many years of negotiations, "NCAA Football 25" was the first game to return to the series.
Electronic Arts developed its "Street" series under its "EA Sports BIG" label. "NFL Street" was the first in the series, released in 2004. It was an EA Sports alternative to the "NFL Blitz" series created by Midway. "NFL Street" took the "Blitz" model one step further by adding style points into its gameplay.
