"Kirby's Dream Land" was the very first game in the franchise. This was actually so early on that Kirby could not even use 'copy' abilities, and was relegated to either inhaling something and spitting it out at something else, or certain small enemies could simply be swallowed once inhaled.
"Kirby's Adventure" is when copy abilities finally came to light. Twenty four of them, to be exact, which were mostly pretty basic but most were genuinely effective. It opened the game up quite a lot and gave it replay value compared to its predecessor.
Nintendo has been well known for making pin ball games out of a lot of its IPs at some point and, in 1993, "Kirby's Pinball Land" made its way to store shelves.
"Kirby's Dream Course" was the second to last "Kirby" game to release for the SNES.
"Kirby Super Star" was the final SNES entry into the franchise. In my personal opinion (an opinion influenced by nostalgia, but I digress), this is the greatest, most impactful piece of "Kirby" media in franchise history. It is a truly loaded game for its time, featuring six different, versatile game modes. It is here where the mysterious entity Galacta Knight debuts, and in encountering him, Meta Knight officially, canonically, becomes the strongest warrior in all of the galaxy.
"Kirby's Star Stacker" came out for the GameBoy. This was essentially a spiritual successor to "Kirby's Avalanche", which aimed to be psuedo-"Tetris" type games.
"Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards" was the "Kirby" representation for the Nintendo 64. This game ultimately is nowhere near as iconic as rivalling 64 entries, namely "Super Mario 64" and "Donkey Kong 64", but it certainly has its place in Nintendo history. This was a fully 3D "Kirby" adventure which, for the first time, featured a playable King Dedede.
"Kirby's Tilt 'n' Tumble" was the only "Kirby" game released for the Game Boy Color.
"Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland" came out on the Game Boy Advance. In it, Kirby must travel to Dreamland and confront King Dedede for stealing the Star Rod. But as it turns out, Dedede wasn't doing it for his nefarious purposes, he was doing it to hold back a much deadlier entity with an even more insidious plot in mind, known as Nightmare.
"Kirby Air Ride" was the first time Kirby got a racing game. This game had a pretty extreme variety of vehicles which all handled very, very differently. Meta Knight and King Dedede are unlockable, playable characters as well.
"Kirby and the Amazing Mirror" is my personal pick for the single greatest GameBoy game of all time. This one released on the GBA. Imagine "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild", 2D and in the "Kirby" universe, and you get this game. This stellarly-designed open world affair also seamlessly integrates a very robust link cable multiplayer. It features eight different, very visually unique worlds and surprisingly thrilling boss fights in each and every single one of them. Capped off with arguably the franchise's best soundtrack and a killer final boss, and if there was a "Kirby Hall of Fame", this game would be in it, hands down.
"Kirby Canvas Curse" was a DS game putting Kirby in a very heavy touch-screen induced affair. This is well known for being one of the hardest games in the franchise.
"Kirby: Squeak Squad" introduced several new copy abilities and pits Kirby against the Squeaks, a new antagonist. Though this game was also on the Nintendo DS, it involves the touch screen far, far less than "Canvas Curse" and focuses more on traditional button-based Kirby gameplay.
"Kirby's Epic Yarn" came out on the Nintendo Wii. It thrusts the new villain Yin-Yarn, who turns Kirby into yarn, into the spotlight.
"Kirby Mass Attack" was a tonal shift for sure. In this game, the player plays as ten Kirbies simultaneously.
"Kirby and the Rainbow Curse" for the Wii U ended up being somewhat of a spiritual successor to "Kirby Canvas Curse". This game is also highly touch screen oriented, but expands on the concept of its predecessor by giving Kirby vehicles to transform into, to make travel less tedious, as well as co-operative Waddle Dees which other players can play as locally to help out.
"Kirby: Planet Robobot" is one of the most visually impressive games in the franchise, on the 3DS to boot. This game is much more centered on fast paced action than its prior entries.
"Kirby and the Forgotten Land" was the first entry the franchise had to be released on the Nintendo Switch.
"Kirby Air Riders" came out on the Nintendo Switch 2, a bizarrely-timed but much-welcomed sequel to the GameCube entry.
Kirby has held a consistent presence in the "Super Smash Bros." franchise, from the first game on the N64 all the way up to "Ultimate" on the Switch, Kirby has seen it all.
"Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe" was the first time a rhythm-oriented game found its way into the franchise. The player exclusively plays as King Dedede, and Kirby is nowhere to be found.
"The Thousand-Year Door", "Explorers of Sky", "Punch Out!!", "Mario Kart World" and "Donkey Kong" are not part of the "Kirby" franchise and do not involve Kirby in them at all.
"Kirby's Journey", "Dream Land Remastered", "Dr. Kirby", "Grand Theft Auto Dream Land Edition" and "Kirby's Mansion" do not exist.
