Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In a regular, competitive match of "Predecessor", what is the main objective that, when completed, will result in a team's victory?

Answer: Destroy the enemy core

Both sides have two layers of towers in each lane, an accompanying inhibitor, then there's the core at the very end of it all. Once the enemy core is destroyed, the game is over.
2. How many roles are there in this game?

Answer: Five

Once the draft process starts, players must decide who among them will handle the Carry, Support, Midlane, Jungle and Offlane roles. Each of these roles play completely differently from one another, and there are characters deliberately designed to fill one, at most two of them.
3. Fangtooth is an objective which can give a variety of teamwide buffs when slain. Mini Orb and Orb Prime are also an objective which give a more straightforward benefit to destroying. Upon slaying an Orb, what buffs will the player receive?

Answer: Minions Buff aura and speedy recall

The Minion Buff aura makes lane minions do more damage and receive less damage, letting players push their lanes more easily. The speedy recall is generally less helpful, but can be a nifty way to quickly buy an item and return to the fray without missing much.

Mini Orb will only give these benefits to the single player who lands the killing blow on it. Orb Prime, however, gives this benefit to all players even those who were not involved in slaying it.
4. As a game rages on, one or multiple players may start to perform really well and land themselves a kill streak. Doing this will have the unintended consequence of making them more appealing for the enemy team to kill. What benefit is earned when killing an enemy on a kill streak?

Answer: Extra Gold

This is what the game refers to as a "Shutdown"- a situation where a player on a kill streak is finally taken down by an enemy. Depending on how high the kill streak is, the extra Gold could be quite substantial.
5. If two players work together to take an enemy down, only one of them will be credited with the kill as the other gets the assist. What determines who is credited with the kill?

Answer: Whoever landed the final blow

Even if a player deals 99% of an enemy's health bar, an ally could come and do the last 1% and be credited with the kill. It's all up to who deals the killing blow. Assists are much easier to obtain, however, as merely doing 0.1% of an enemy's health bar in an encounter they die in will be enough to receive credit for an assist.
6. The game takes its large cast of characters and indicates to the player what role(s) each is suited for. Is the player allowed to use a character outside of their intended role(s)?

Answer: Yes

The only concrete rules regarding character selection are that two players on one team can't select the same character and, if the game is on Ranked mode, no two players can select the same character period; a character being selected on the opposing team means you can't choose them.

Beyond that, any character can be chosen to fill any role. However, doing this is usually ill advised, as each role has very different demands that non-dedicated characters likely will have a lot of difficulty meeting.
7. Each role grants the player at least one, and as the game goes on more, Wards. What do Wards do?

Answer: Detect nearby enemy movement

If an enemy steps into an area the player has warded, a noise notification will happen and the spot on the minimap with the ward will have an exclamation point briefly placed on it.

Jungle characters mainly aim to use Sentries instead to find and destroy Wards. The Support role uniquely gains a third Ward, with all three replenishing immediately upon entering base, once they have satisfied the conditions of their Crest item.

Even more uniquely, Wraith has his own exclusive form of Ward known as a Sonar Drone. These mostly function the same as Wards, only they are completely invisible, pulsate and have slightly more range.
8. With the exception of the Jungle role, players begin the game with two healing Potions. What do Junglers receive in lieu of potions?

Answer: Hunt

The Hunt, when used, will immediately deal 500 True Damage to minions and monsters, having no effect when used on enemy players. This is a useful way to secure kills on Fangtooth and the Orb. With repeated use, Hunt will eventually evolve into Elite Hunt, and will now deal 1,000 True Damage on use.

It can store a maximum of two charges, will replenish charges after 90 seconds, and has a cool down of 15 seconds in between using each charge.
9. One secondary mechanic that can greatly help determine the victory between two parties in a lane is called Creep Score or, CS. How does a player increase their CS?

Answer: Killing minions and monsters

When killed, minions and monsters both drop gold and XP, in quantities which can and will add up over time. Level ups are absolutely crucial in this game, so if one side establishes a lead in CS accumulated over the other, it could potentially be enough on its own to let them win the entire lane gradually.

Uniquely, the Support actually wants a very low CS. The reason for this is that they play alongside the Carry, the player who will mainly be responsible for damaging and killing the enemy team. It is optimal to allow the Carry to kill minions and monsters, so that their level can rise more effectively and enable them to properly "carry" the team.

For Jungle, Offlane and Midlane however, there is only one ally. Thus, these three plus the Carry should strive to take as much CS as is feasible.
10. Uniquely, this game has implemented a "Player Score" feature as a means of trying to establish who the true MVP of a given game is. Which of the following influences a player's PS?

Answer: Structure damage

A whole litany of things too great to list will influence PS. That said, the system exists in the first place because each role has completely unique things to achieve to do their part; it wouldn't be very fair to the Support if PS was mainly judged off of kills and damage dealt, as their job is to help someone else achieve those things. Mundane tasks, such as damaging structures, killing minions, healing allies, taking damage without dying and more, influence PS.
