O flower of Scotland, will we see
Your like again, that fought and for
Your wee bit hill and

And stood against him proud army,
And sent him tae think again.

The hills are now, and leaves lie thick and still
O'er land that is lost now which those so held.

Those days are past now and in the past they must remain
But we can still now and be the again.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

"Flower of Scotland" was written in the mid-1960s by folk musician Roy Williamson. Its lyrics describe the crushing victory of Robert the Bruce, the King of the Scots, over Edward II, King of England, at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314.

The anthem has been used since the 1990s by the Scottish national soccer and rugby union teams, replacing older songs such as "Scotland the Brave". Since 2010 it has also been used by Team Scotland at successive Commonwealth Games. Hearing it sung at Hampden Park by about 52,000 Scots before a Scottish home international soccer fixture is an awe-inspiring experience!

The song is unashamedly political, urging modern Scots to restore their country's status as an independent nation after it ceased to be so when the Act of Union was passed in 1707.
