Jack Winters had a wide array of powers, including telepathy and limited teleportation. After exposing himself to radiation, he was able to make his body into nearly indestructible diamond. He was conniving and power hungry and would have made for a great returning villain, but he was killed off when Cyclops aimed a vibration ray at him until he shattered. Like most comic book deaths, later writers found a way out and he ultimately went on to fight another day.

But later on in this issue, Cyclops tells the three newbies that he hopes they're good fighters, as he and Marvel Girl can't fight an enemy alone. This suggests that Marvel Girl is already an X-Men. (This is confirmed in later issues.)
