In the meantime Rick Rude performed a Backbreaker submission on Steamboat, and when the ref woke up he immediately signaled for the timekeeper to ring the bell. Everyone is the audience, Vince McMahon and Jesse "The Body" Ventura (The Commentators) thought that Steamboat had submitted. Rick Rude started celebrating the victory. He got half way up the entrance way when, Howard Finkel announced that Steamboat had won by disqualification.
