Jay was very dissapointed about this and was very angry. The boyfriend wanted to leave because Jay's mom was crazy. He left Jay his surfboard and later on Jay destroyed it.

Heath actually wore prosthetic teeth and adapted his accent to excellently mimic the real Skip Engblom, the Zephyr surf shop owner and founder of the Zephyr Skateboard Team. Skip Engblom also has a cameo in "Lords of Dogtown" as a starter at a skateboarding event.

It provides the opening scene for the movie when the older surfers are surfing first, and then, they allow the young grommets (inexperienced surfers) - Tony, Jay Boy, and Stacy - to surf after they have finished.
