Answer: Jake Gyllenhaal

Jake Gyllenhaal is an American actor who has had a successful career in acting, appearing in big movie hits such as "The Day After Tomorrow", "Zodiac" and "Brokeback Mountain". He won five awards for his part in "Brokeback Mountain" including best performance at the MTV Movie Awards. Other people considered for the role of Dastan were Zac Efron and Orlando Bloom, but it was Jake who was given the shot to become this Disney Prince.

Despite what you might think, Alamut did actually exist in Persia many years ago. Today only ruins can be seen not too far from Iran. The fortress on Alamut was extremely difficult to penetrate due to it being built on a steep hill and the fact that it had strong outer walls. In "Prince of Persia", Alamut is displayed in all its former glory and is the home of Princess Tamina and her people.

The ostrich race organizer's name was Sheik Amar. He had a friend named Seso, who was part of a band of warriors who were masters at throwing knives. Amar would get Tamina, who was nearby, as a slave at the ostrich races, so Dastan would live. We saw a scene at the ostrich races where Tamina was a slave and Dastan and Amar were watching her.

Ostriches are the largest bird in the world. They can grow up to nine feet tall and can run at an amazing 60km/h! In "Prince of Persia", Sheik Amar likes to race Ostriches and take bets on them. He's obviously very attached to them and after losing all but one of his Ostriches he vows to keep a close eye on the remaining one.

Nizam and Dastan talked about who killed Sharaman. Dastan said that he thought his brother Tus was responsible for Sharaman's death. Dastan claimed Tus knew about the dagger's power, which was turning back time, which would allow him to take the throne. Dastan then noticed the burns on Nizam's hands, and asked him how his hands were burned. Nizam said that they were burned because he was trying to take the robe off Sharaman while Sharaman was being burned. Dastan knew that Nizam did not try to take the robe off of Sharaman, making him responsible for the king's death.

Dastan first presses the button on the Dagger of Time when fighting Tamina, after escaping Alamut having being accused of his foster father's death. He's confused when he finds time has reversed and Tamina manages to slash him with a sword so he presses the button again. The same thing happens, but this time he asks Tamina if she saw what happened. She quickly realises that he has used the power of the Dagger.

Tamina says the Dagger can hold enough sand for one minute when she and Dastan are taking shelter from a sand storm. The Hourglass of Time, located deep underground, can extend the amount of time the Dagger can go back in. Tamina explains that if you pierce the Hourglass of Time with the Dagger the sands will flow through endlessly. However, piercing the Hourglass has consequences; the Gods will punish man-kind by releasing deadly sand storms upon civilisation.

Before killing himself, Dastan explained the power of the Dagger of Time to Tus. By pressing the jewel on the holt of the dagger, the sands of time were released, and time was turned back a few seconds. This allowed the future to be changed. Only the person who pressed the jewel knew what happened. Dastan then stabbed himself with a sword. Then Tus pressed the jewel and time was turned back to the moment before Dastan stabbed himself. Tus stopped Dastan from killing himself just as they encountered Nazim.

In the Sandglass chamber underground, Nazim attempted to break the Sandglass and allow him to travel back in time to the moment he saved King Sharaman's life when they were kids. Tamina and Dastan traveled to where Nazim was and tried to stop him, but Nazim tried to push Tamina off the ledge they were standing on to her death in a bottomless pit. Dastan was already hanging off that ledge, so he grabbed Tamina as she fell with one hand. Tamina told Dastan to stop Nazim, and Tamina fell to her death after letting go.

Dastan sees one of his friends being beaten by the King's Guard for simply accidentally walking into his horse. He throws an apple at the guard to make him stop before shouting at his friend to run. A chase ensues; the King sees courage in Dastan and takes him on as his son.

At a gathering in Alamut, Dastan revealed Nazim's plot to his family. Nazim suggested that Dastan was being silly because he had fought too hard and needed to get out of the sun. After Dastan began to speak more, Nazim tried to kill Dastan, but Tus stepped in and killed Nazim.

Dastan and Tamina have been captured by Sheik Amar who intends to trade them to Tus for a reward. Whilst they are all asleep the Hassansins send snakes into their camp through the sand. The snakes strike, awakening everyone. Dastan asks to be released so he can save them. He uses the Dagger to go back in time so he is ready this time when the snakes strike.

After the Dagger of Time had been returned to Tamina, who was actually the dagger's guardian, they walked together in a garden. Tamina said that she was surprised about Dastan's change in behavior, and he was acting as if he had discovered something. Dastan then said to Tamina that everyone is in control of their own destiny.
