In 1901, Sweden held the first multi-sport event called the Nordic Games. Figure skating was first performed in the summer Olympics held in London in 1908. It was held indoors so there was no reason it couldn't be contended during the summer games. There wasn't an actual winter Olympics held until 1924 in Chamonix, France.
