"Unpaid Debts" was the sixth episode of the first season of "Burn Notice". Virgil worked as a repo man, and he was having trouble repossessing a speed boat. Michael and Fiona got the boat, but when Michael realized that the customers wanting the boat were dirty cops who were willing to blow up the boat and Virgil, Michael knew that there was more to the story. He stashed Virgil at his mother's house and was disturbed to find out that they developed a relationship overnight. After solving Virgil's problem, Michael advised him to leave town since there still might be people after him. Virgil returned in the 2008 episode "Rough Seas" to ask for Michael's help in recovering $1 million in medicine stolen from a clinic.

Larry worked covert ops with Michael during their CIA days and was believed to have been killed during an operation, thus Michael called him "Dead Larry". Larry wanted to join up with Michael and gave him the contract to see if Michael could be ruthless. Of course, Michael instead pretended to kill Jeannie while rescuing her. It was Jeannie's stepson who tried to have her killed, and Larry ended up killing him before escaping himself. Larry became a recurring character on "Burn Notice" throughout the seasons until his apparent death in the 2011 episode "Dead to Rights", but one never knows with Larry.

Samantha and Michael had known each other while Michael was in a period of "free-lancing" while still in the CIA. They had found that they had many common attributes, and were engaged, but Michael pulled out, and they did not see each other until season 2. Michael said that it had been one of those things that you think that is right when you first think about it, but then the next morning, he realized that it was all wrong. Unfortunately, Samantha happened to come back when Fiona was talking to Michael about a job, and so it was not a pleasant surprise for any of them.

Sharon Gless is well-known for her role in the T.V. show "Cagney and Lacey". In a nod her former show, one "Burn Notice" episode had Sam and Fiona pretending to be cops and using the names Cagney and Lacey. Madeline, with all of her faults, is a survivor of an abusive marriage and as the season progresses, we see that she clearly cares for her son.

In "Friends Like These", Barry's business ledger was stolen, and when Michael and friends kidnapped a criminal and his girlfriend to find the ledger, they found out that it was the "girlfriend" who was really pulling the strings. Barry also asked for Michael's help in the 2011 episode "No Good Deed" when Barry's brother was having trouble with a computer hacker. Incidentally, in the "Friends Like These" episode, we were introduced to actress Callie Thorne, who returned to "Burn Notice" in 2010 in the episode "Hot Property" and then went on to have her own series on USA Network, "Necessary Roughness".

You can find MANY scenes from the episodes where Fiona is ready to charge in, bullets flying, regardless of what may happen. Take the episode in season 2 where an old buddy of Mike's comes back, and needs help. He works for a rapper named Valentine, and money is stolen - two million dollars to be exact. Fi and Michael listen to a heated meeting from a bug, and when threats are made, Fi jumps out of the car, heavily armed, ready to charge in. Michael finally was able to stop her before she did any damage.

Fiona was an IRA operative, who did not do well with taking orders, and Michael was her intelligence contact. When his identity was compromised, Michael had to leave Ireland without being able to contact Fiona. They had a romantic relationship in Ireland and Fiona seems intent on starting this attachment up again in Miami. Trigger-happy doesn't adequately describe Fiona's preferred solution to any problem.

Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin played the local football coach, who offered Sam tickets to a Miami Dolphins game in exchange for helping one of his players who was the target of a hit by a local gangster. The player, Corey, had beaten up the gangster when the man had attacked his sister. Sam talked Michael Westen into taking the case, with some help from Fiona who had a soft spot for kids. Westen managed to trick the gangster into accidentally trying to assassinate his boss, which resulted in him having to leave town. Thus, Sam and the team got the football tickets from a grateful Coach Martin.

Carla is certainly an interesting person. Complete with a shadowy spy voice and all, her goal is to make Michael and other people with certain resources and connections to do illegal jobs for her. You could also say that she works to make people's lives miserable.

Sam was formerly a Navy seal and after Michael's arrival in Miami, he was conscripted by the FBI to keep an eye on him and report on the former spy's activities. Michael knows about this surveillance and, at times, is able to use this reporting conduit to his advantage.

Michael ended up rescuing Fiona after she had been kidnapped, having told Strickler that "Fiona is not my past".

Sugar (aka Raymond Mosley) first appeared in the pilot episode of "Burn Notice" as Michael Westen's drug-dealing neighbor. Sugar tried to get rid of Michael, but being no match for Michael, it ended up being Sugar who moved out. Despite the bad start to their relationship, Sugar ended up becoming a resource for Michael, and the character appeared in other episodes throughout the series. In "Noble Causes", Sugar asked Michael to help his cousin who was being used by a gang of thugs. It turned out that they wanted to use him for an armored vehicle heist and planned to kill him. Michael and his team were able to rescue Dougie and instead trap the gang until the police arrived.

Carla is an operative, and she nearly does kill Mike, but only out of desperation for his help. Diego is killed because after a while, he tries to help Michael get his old job back. Tom Strickler is a weird kind of person who is helping Michael, but then tries to capture and kill Fiona, telling Michael that Fiona is his past. At this point, Michael kills Tom. Victor tries to kill Michael and others. Mike tries to help Victor from Carla's horrible jobs, because she killed his family. It ends up that Carla shoots Victor, and then Michael kills him to put him out of his misery.

Michael first notices Jan while he and Sam are eating in bar and he starts a fight with another patron to distract the Czech before punching him. Later, Jan shoots at Michael who is trying to prevent his brother, Nate, from encountering a rigged shotgun that he set up and Nate is forced to stitch up Michael's wound from a ricocheted bullet. Through Sam's FBI contact, Michael later learns that Jan was picked by some unknown security officers and has ended up dead. Despite the trouble Jan Haseck caused him, Michael seems to have some regret over the Czech's demise.

Jesse Porter first appeared in the beginning of the fourth season, in the 2010 episode "Friends and Enemies" in which he lost his job when Michael broke into a facility and stole information for which Jesse was blamed. After hiring Michael, Jesse joined up with the team since, like Michael, he had nothing else to do as a burned spy. Thus, Michael was forced to try to help Jesse without really doing so. Later that season, Jesse discovered that Michael was the one responsible for his burning in the episode "Blind Spot", but Michael's mother Madeline managed to keep the team together by getting the two of them to settle their differences.

Nate is an unfortunate character. He tries to find a good job, but Michael always dumbs them down. He has a bad history of gambling, and in the sixth season, Nate dies. He and Michael never have the chance to say they were sorry, because they had just had an argument.

Akhom Thabet is an old friend who spies for the Egyptian government. Michael calls in a favor by talking to Akhom while he is in the middle of a job and in order to preserve his cover, Akhom agrees. Just as Phillip Cowan warns Michael that he has underestimated who had him burned, he is shot to death by an expert marksman. Clearly, the people that Cowan worked for used him to bring Michael Westen to a point where they could manipulate him.
