Cabinet of Curiosities Trivia Questions

1. When Walter was young, his sister, Epperley, crossed over to another dimension. This was after she died in what location?

From Quiz
"Dreams in the Witch House"

Answer: Her bed

As a child, Walter Gilman found his sister, Epperley, crying in bed in fear that the ghosts were coming to find her. He promised that he would always protect her, but she died moments later while he held her hand. As the wind picked up outside and lightning and thunder rolled through, Walter saw his sister's ghostly spirit appear at the foot of her bed. He would be powerless to help as she was dragged out of the bedroom, through the front door, and into an opening in the trees, not to be seen again. What this event in Walter's life would do was fuel an interest in other dimensions. Many years later, he attends a private exhibition of the powers of Madame Levine, a sensational psychic whose seances leave the audience in awe. Walter is sure of it, after a demonstration at least, that she is the bridge who can take him to his sister.

2. Dr. Carl Winters is called in to perform autopsies after a disaster in which location?

From Quiz "The Autopsy"

Answer: A mine

A mine tunnel operates in the evening and a group of its workers finish their duties before descending deeper into the shaft. As they head into the elevator and make their way down, one of their colleagues, Joe, leaps on top and descends with them, toting a large rock under his arm. As they come to a stop he fidgets with his find and tosses the rock behind him, running down the tunnel, before it illuminates and explodes. The result is a devastating cave-in. In the days to follow, Dr. Carl Winters arrives in town at the behest of the sheriff. They make small talk as they sit and sip coffee (and whiskey) in Sheriff Craven's office, but the reason for Winters' arrival is clear; there are nine dead men (and one miraculous survivor) and autopsies must be performed.

3. The previous owner of Lot 36 passes away by which means?

From Quiz "Lot 36"

Answer: Heart attack

In 1991, an elderly gentleman watches as George Bush announces the attacks that commence America's involvement in the Gulf War. Shuffling from his living room to his kitchen he tosses the remains of his microwave dinner out in the trash and drops his keys on the counter before donning an apron and butchering away at a skinned creature on his cutting board. He chops the head off, but it falls to the floor and, frustrated, he bends over to pick it up. It's the last thing he does. As he reaches down, he has a heart attack and dies, staring into the eye of the skull on the ground.

4. The other students inform Thurber that Pickman has a tendency to make his sketches in which odd location?

From Quiz "Pickman's Model"

Answer: The cemetery

Heading to the pub after class, Thurber and some of his colleagues discuss Pickman and his history. Knowing him to be an older gentleman, they speak on his oddities, claiming he comes from old New England money. His mother came from Arkham, but she died of a grisly suicide when he was a boy and his father went mad shortly after. His inheritance has allowed him to travel Europe in pursuit of the arts for a decade. Now that he's back in the States, he's been seen sketching in the local cemetery. And the cemetery is where Thurber finds Pickman sketching a dead cat at one of the gravesites. Thurber asks about the piece in Bosworth's class and whether or not Pickman is interested in the art prize, but the new student acknowledges he's more interested in depicting the darkness and corruption of the world. He shows his sketchbook and Thurber calls it powerful work. It's why he goes home to paint and finds that he struggles to make anything with quite as much meaning.

5. Stacey, pulling a name for Secret Santa, finds that she needs to bring a gift for whom?

From Quiz "The Outside"

Answer: Gina

As Stacey cleans up and prepares to go home for the evening, one of her colleagues comes by with a Santa hat and insists on pulling the last name from it-- the office has Secret Santa the next day. She pulls Gina's name, of all people. This is why when Stacey heads home, she grabs her shotgun and goes out to collect a duck, bringing it back and starting in on her taxidermy work. Meticulously, she removes the flesh of the bird, stuffs it with the replacement innards, stitches it back together, and fills in the eyes. When Keith gets home, he's a bit surprised that Gina would be so inviting, besides which, Stacey never liked the other women at work. She insists it's different now, and while he goes off to eat reheated chicken wings and watch televised poker tournaments, she finishes the duck, dresses up, and heads out for the party.

6. Where does Masson reside and operate business?

From Quiz "Graveyard Rats"

Answer: Salem

Down by the docks, Masson arrives and trades his find from the graveyard to find that it's much less valuable than he initially believed. With his debts mounting and his continued losses at the card tables looming over him, his situation grows more and more dire. The problem, he says, is that there are too many rats. Often he'll get to a coffin and open it to find nothing inside because the rats have cleaned it out. It's an epidemic! And it always has been, Masson continues, as rats have always reached Salem's port on old trading ships and remained there. In other countries, he says, people worship rats. Back when Cotton Mather rid Salem of its evil cultists, there was known to be a network of caverns beneath its streets. Heaven knows what's breeding down there. Worse is that he can't seem to get to the rats in their fortifications-- not only are they too deep, but he's claustrophobic. Masson pleads for a bit of mercy while he deals with the problem. He has one week to solve it, otherwise he'll be buried in the cemetery he's working in.

7. Walter discovers that his job completing paid fieldwork and research no longer has funding. What is his second job?

From Quiz "Dreams in the Witch House"

Answer: Bartender

Walter explains to Mr. Labuschagne, the head of the Spiritualist Society, that he's located two credible out-of-state mediums he wishes to meet with but, unfortunately, funding for the society's research seems to be drying up. He's confident they're close to finding a real medium, but they may have to close the office in the near future. In the meantime they need to put a hold on all failed fieldwork. It means that Walter will need to resume his day job, working behind a bar in town. Walter is dismayed by the turn of fate, and when he's approached by his friend, who offers him a job travelling the world as a journalist, he turns it down with the intent to continue searching for a path tot he other side. His friend claims that he's a lost man, more concerned with his dead sister than the living.

8. Finding the body in the woods, Craven left two hunters to stake out the scene. What was all that remained when Craven returned to check in on them?

From Quiz "The Autopsy"

Answer: A radio

Placing the body back where he and his search party left it, Craven asked two local hunters to stake out the woods from a nearby ridge, intending to catch whoever left it when they returned to collect their victim. His deputies handed over some radios and jackets and left them to take positions for the evening while he had the film of the crime scene developed. They returned in five hours to check in on the men, and that's when things got weirder. Arriving back in the woods, there was no sign of the hunters; all that was left was the radios, dropped on the ground and left behind. Whatever took them took the body as well. When the forensics report came back, it was determined that the body in the tree belonged to a local miller who frequented a bar called Trucker's Tavern. That's where Craven went next.

9. How often did Lot 36's original owner visit the unit (before his death)?

From Quiz "Lot 36"

Answer: Every day

Nick makes a call to Tommy, who he owes a great deal of money, to explain that he's across county lines bidding on storage units to sell the items inside for a profit. Tommy insists-- he needs the money tonight. He splits cash from his previous unit with Eddie and offers to cut a check for Lot 36, much to Eddie's disgust. Before Eddie hands over the keys, however, he plays a VHS-- a video of security camera footage. On it, they watch as the previous owner of Lot 36 walks down the corridor with a bag, heads in for an hour or two, and leaves with the bag empty. He's had the place since 1945 and he's been there every day. Something important must be kept inside.

10. Nancy is awakened one night by noises in the hall. What does she find in the attic when she investigates?

From Quiz "The Murmuring"

Answer: Birds

After their first full day on Big Harbour Island, Nancy and Edgar head to bed and Nancy once again struggles to fall asleep. On this evening, the footsteps in the hall are louder, and while she doesn't hear the door open down the corridor-- at least not the first time-- she starts seeing the shadows in the hall. She gets up alone, peeking out into the hallway to find that door at the end swinging open and shut in the wind. She heads to turn on the light, finding the power is out, and as she approaches the door she finds a stairway up to the attic. At the top, she's amazed to find a flock of dunlins perched on the attic beams. She wakes up Edgar so that they can collect footage; dunlins don't act this way.

11. What is the name of the substance that allows Walter to visit the Forest of Lost Souls?

From Quiz "Dreams in the Witch House"

Answer: Liquid Gold

While cleaning up at the bar, Walter comes across two men speaking of alternate dimensions and he joins their conversation, explaining he knows about the path in the woods. One of the men leaves without further discussion while the other tells him to chat outside, where no one will overhear them. Walter explains his sister being taken to the woods and it's enough for the man to understand and inform him that his people call it the Forest of Lost Souls, a limbo for those not yet ready to move on. The man and his people have been there before and they can take Walter, but he needs to pay up. Walter is brought to the basement room of a local establishment and handed a small vial made by a Navajo man. The contents, which they refer to as 'Liquid Gold', are what he needs to visit the other side. Their only recommendation is that he not cause any ripples in the forest. He takes a seat, downs the vial, and passes out, opening his eyes to find a portal into the woods has appeared before him.

12. Thurber starts to have dreams brought on by Pickman's work, the first of which involves a carriage outside his apartment. Who, as it seems, did he see inside the carriage?

From Quiz "Pickman's Model"

Answer: Rebecca's father

Thurber leaves Pickman's apartment abruptly, throwing up in the alley behind his place, disturbed by what he's seen. As a carriage rolls by, he believes he sees its occupants engaged in carnal acts, decrepifying before his very eyes. The vehicle stops and the occupants beckon him over and, following his curiosity, Thurber approaches with caution. What he finds when he nears it, however, is a terrifying woman who emerges from the darkness and claws at his chest, raking across it with her talon-like claws. It's then that he awakens from his awful nightmare...finding that his shirt is torn. Thurber arrives slightly late for his lunch engagement with Rebecca and attempts to hide his distress. He's quickly introduced to Rebecca's aunt, Lizzy, who asks him about his affinity for portraits, but he finds he's distracted by the almost fantastical spectre of a woman skirting along the edges of the party in his periphery. He excuses himself to start drinking moments before Rebecca introduces her father, Charles. He happens to be the man he saw in the carriage the night before. Rebecca can only ask Thurber what's wrong, but he can't seem to explain himself rationally. She instead asks him to leave. It's why Thurber returns to Pickman's seeking answers. What he finds when he arrives, however, is that Pickman's apartment has been cleared out save for a handful of eerie sketches on the walls.

13. Eddie Sykes, also known as Joe Allen, went missing during which event?

From Quiz "The Autopsy"

Answer: Meteor shower

At Trucker's a man recognized his coworker, Eddie Sykes, who'd been missing for some time. The man believed to be Sykes claimed otherwise, however, insisting that he was actually someone else-- a man by the name of Joe Allen. As they talked, the unknown man started to speak low, suggesting that they leave the bar; he could tell him everything somewhere quieter. Almost as though hypnotized, the colleague followed as he was instructed, got into the vehicle, and was never seen alive again. Reviewing the case files and crime scene photos, Craven tells Dr. Winters that Sykes, a tenement worker, went missing nine months ago after telling a buddy that he'd planned to go hiking in the woods at night, eager to see a meteor shower. He never came back to work. Instead, he showed back up in Bailey under the name Joe Allen. Craven arrived at his place to find the man's apartment vacant and unkempt. Amongst his belongings was an awful orb, smelly and covered in hairs; the landlady claimed he brought it in from the woods. It was making everyone uneasy. Craven loaded the orb into his cruiser and headed off to the Braddock Forks Mine in time for shift change. It was there, after they arrived, that the police found Joe Allen, but only he broke into the vehicle, took the orb, and rushed into the mines with it. The cave-in occurred shortly thereafter. What Craven can't understand is how Allen knew the orb was in his car.

14. In 1926, Pickman delivers a new painting to Thurber's home. Who's the first to see it?

From Quiz "Pickman's Model"

Answer: Thurber himself

In 1926, seventeen years after crossing paths with Pickman at Miskatonic University, Thurber continues to work in the art world, but now resides with Rebecca and their son, James, in their resplendent house. As he walks in the door from a night out, he sees a package, wrapped at the door, and moves past it to see his family. That evening, Thurber awakens to find himself in another home. Unsettling pictures adorn the walls while music and peoples' voices can be heard behind closed doors. He proceeds to the main floor to investigate, crossing through the threshold to find a feast being served. There, at the table, appears to be Lavinia and her coven. The table writhes with living and dead creatures. As the party turns to look at him, the main course opens its eyes. It's then that Thurber awakens, heading downstairs to look at the package. What he finds is another Pickman piece, this one roiling in otherworldly power. Rebecca enters the room before her husband can shove a blade through his forehead to shop the voices, and he seals it away before she can see. As they leave the room, she says that the man who delivered it, is back in town and claimed to know him. Neither watch as their son enters the room and takes a peek.

15. Nancy finds an embroidered handkerchief in one of the house's studies. What word is sewn onto the fabric?

From Quiz "The Murmuring"

Answer: FREEDOM

Nancy and Edgar's research continues despite the odd occurrences on Big Harbour Island and Nancy can't put her finger on exactly why the house upsets her. When she heads inside alone she spends time gazing at the pictures on the staircase wall, looking at the former owner and her son. She makes her way into an old study to find it virtually untouched and there, inside one of the cabinets, she finds bundles of old written letters. Amongst the items in this room is a sewn handkerchief bearing a blonde woman standing beneath a murmuration of dunlins. At the bottom of the image is the sewn word: 'freedom'. It's the word she's always used to describe why she's been drawn to birds. Edgar finds the handkerchief to be a great coincidence. That evening, when they discuss the situation, Nancy says that she feels for the woman who made it; it's beautiful embroidery, but it only makes her sad. In bed that night, Nancy turns over to find a small baby laying next to her-- her daughter, Ava. This is only a dream, however. Something grabs her from behind, pulling her from her memory. Downstairs, someone walks through the house, and when she enters the study following the crying of a young child, she finds that the room is in disarray, the bundles of letters scattered on the floor.

16. According to the man from the infomercial, Stacey's new life is already...what?

From Quiz "The Outside"

Answer: Inside her

Stacey is beckoned back to her TV by the man from the infomercial and she doesn't stop herself from revealing her progress. It's gotten worse; she worries she's allergic. The man tells her to trust him. His only reminder is that she needs to go all the way if she wants to know what it's like to be pretty. The new life she wants is already growing inside her, under her skin. When the TV shuts itself off, she goes downstairs to get more Alo Glo and she finds the tubes opening themselves and squeezing out their contents. It scares her enough to send her racing upstairs to bed. She wakes Keith and asks him to stay home from work, but he refuses. By morning, the Alo Glo box overflows with lotion, oozing into a mass on the basement floor. Stacey's rash worsens by the time she wakes up.

17. Leaving the storage unit to sell his finds, he's attacked. Who attacks him?

From Quiz "Lot 36"

Answer: A thug, there to scare him into paying his debt

When Nick reaches the back of Lot 36 he starts to find more concerning artifacts including ornate darkwood chairs and a massive pentagram emblem. As he seals them into the back of his truck and gets behind the wheel, however, he's ambushed by a man with a hammer and told that he has one more day to hand over $12,000, the debt he still owes to Tommy. The man hits him in the forehead before smashing out Nick's windshield. From the office door, Emilia watches on. Nick heads inside to use Eddie's first aid kit and he reveals his find-- some antiques and potential gold accessories. Instead of bringing them to the five-and-dime he normally does, he receives a new address from Eddie. If the artifacts are good, actual collectors would be interested and they would pay good money for them. Nick tapes up his windshield and heads out.

18. The Alo Glo in Stacey's basement appears to take what form?

From Quiz "The Outside"

Answer: A human

Stacey finds that her rash is expanding, drying, and cracking when she wakes up, and while she's staring in the mirror Keith returns from work. She takes to tearing at her skin, pulling the top layers off to reveal what's underneath with an almost manic-laughter. When she heads downstairs, she tells Keith not to say anything about the condition of her skin, but he's quite distressed. It's clearly not healing despite her insistence. Keith reminds her that there's nothing wrong with her-- she's lovely inside and out-- but she still wants to tear off her skin and throw it into the garbage. Stacey stomps down into the basement to find what's waiting for her. In the night, the Alo Glo that spilled onto the floor transformed itself into a humanoid figure and rose from the puddle it created. As she approaches it, it mirrors her movements before they lock hands and embrace each other.

19. How many books are found in the seance table?

From Quiz "Lot 36"

Answer: Three & 3

Nick ends up at Agatha's with his items of note, showing her a gold candelabra and the pentagram-inlayed emblem. She notes that the pentagram is part of a seance table, and a serious one. It's a wonderful piece. As she presses into one of the segments on top, she reveals a hidden drawer that pops open on the side, exposing three books-- 'Liber Primus, Daemonia', 'Liber Secundus, Symvolia', and 'Liber Tertius, Perilipsi'. Agatha admits it's not her field of interest-- books, that is-- but she has an associate who may know more and be able to give a valid appraisal. Agatha calls up Roland and he comes quickly, immediately finding reason to be impressed with the seance table. Made in Austria in the nineteenth century, Roland explains, it appears to have been treated in a very specific way so as to summon an entity. The reddish tint in the lacquer is blood. When Roland sees the three books, he's more thrilled than expected. He asks where the fourth is, but for three, he would pay $10,000 each. For all four, in excess of $300,000 to the right buyer. The problem is that the fourth, 'Liber Quartus, Sacramentum', is the rarest, made with symbols and spells to bind a demon to make it earthbound. It's the rarest because it burns down completely at the end of the transaction. Roland hands over some cash, but he insists that if Nick finds book four, he'll cut him a check the moment he does.

20. Nancy first sees the ghost of the house's former owner under which circumstances?

From Quiz "The Murmuring"

Answer: When she's in a bath

When Edgar finally returns to the house, Nancy frustratedly asks where he's been. There's no time to chat, however, since a dunlin appears to have made its way into the main level of the house. As the couple tries to get it out the door, it flies into the window, breaking its neck. Nancy runs a bath in an effort to relax, but it's anything but restful. As crying and moaning starts in the hallway, something bangs on the door from outside. Nancy looks into the bathwater and sees the body of a young boy in the tub with her, and at the same time, the bathroom door creaks open, revealing a screaming woman as she rushes in. When Edgar arrives, responding to her screams, there's nothing else in the room. In the aftermath of the vision, Edgar tells Nancy to let her emotions out. She hasn't cried since before everything happens with Ava's death; it would do her good to let it out. She tells Edgar she just wants to sleep.

21. Masson finds that the pit he falls into in the rat tunnels comes out in what kind of location?

From Quiz "Graveyard Rats"

Answer: A black church

Once Masson takes stock of where he is, he sifts through the bones and skeletons and finds that he's managed to locate the mother lode-- anything the rats couldn't eat ended up in the pit with the bones of the deceased. He roots through the payload and pockets as much as he can, soon coming across the sabre possessed by the shipping merchant. As Masson gets to his feet he realizes that he's in a much more concerning chamber than he realized. He pans the flashlight around the room to see a statue of a many-tentacled being seated along the wall and realizes he's in a black church. Opposite the statue is a praying skeleton kneeling and adorned with a striking gold necklace. Masson can't help himself from reaching for it but as he does, the skeletal being comes to life, gripping his arms and screaming at him as he tries to pull free. The skeleton bites off his ear as it strives to reclaim its jewellery though Masson is able to crawl away and back up another tunnel...or at least try.

22. How many years prior to Nancy and Edgar's arrival on Big Harbour Island did the tragedy occur?

From Quiz "The Murmuring"

Answer: Thirty years

When Sunday arrives, Nancy and Edgar film the dunlins out by the water until their supply shipment arrives with everything they've requested. Nancy asks questions about the people who lived in the house, explaining she's seen some very odd things, and she finally gets answers. The woman who lived in the house was put there by her family and, unfortunately, it was too isolated. It didn't work out, she's told. The boy died-- he drowned. The mother killed herself in grief. It all happened thirty years ago, he says, but he doesn't believe in ghosts. Edgar asks Nancy about her conversation with the caretaker and she tries to avoid letting on what she knows. She finally admits to him that she's seen and heard the mother and child in the house and she can't explain why, even if Edgar tries to rationalize her visions with her grief and lack of sleep. Nancy explains that Edgar has also had trouble expressing his grief, but he can't understand why she's bottled it all up. She's never let him in and more and more he worries that she's slipping away. He lets her know he'll sleep downstairs for the night and be at his station before dawn unless she wants him to stay. She doesn't respond to him, however.

23. What becomes of the rock-like item in the obelisk chamber?

From Quiz "The Viewing"

Answer: It cracks open

As Lassiter pulls back from the item in the obelisk chamber an awful piercing noise rings through the room. All in the chamber watch in pain as the item cracks into pieces and a living, alien being emerges from within, its unearthly horns extending from an oozing, formless body. As the guests are drawn into its trance, their orifices begin to bleed. It begins to undulate as Reinhhard, the most susceptible to its energies, screams in pain; his face begins to slough off through no discernible cause. Outside the room, Hector waits for the guests to return and experiences an unnatural power surge. As the horror continues to mount in the obelisk chamber, Landon screams that the item is probing him from its obelisk before his head explodes. This snaps Charlotte and Roth from their trance and the two scramble for the doorway, clamoring to get out. Dr. Zahra nears the being on the obelisk and comes into direct contact with it, feeling its inhuman form and running her hand through. It causes her, too, to melt into a formless mass. Charlotte and Roth are finally able to escape the room when Hector comes to check on the party. He presses the button for the door, urging them to leave while they still can, and he grabs the golden AK off the wall in the sitting room.

24. The visitor within Eddie Sykes' body has grown too large to transfer itself into another body via the alimentary canal and, as such, must be moved through which means?

From Quiz "The Autopsy"

Answer: Excision

Winters awakens on the autopsy slab nearly unable to move. Tied to the table, he watches as the visitor removes his clothing and lays down next to him. The intent, according to the visitor, is to transfer him into Winters' body-- Winters, after all, is privy to fresh meals on the regular as new corpses are delivered to him directly-- but to do that the proper incisions must be made so as to not arouse suspicion. Normally he would travel into a host via the alimentary canal. As he has grown, unfortunately, they will instead need to make some incisions. With good understanding of the human body, the visitor claims that he can remove himself and transfer over to Winters but it will be a delicate procedure. Winters laughs at the idea-- the alien seems to be jealous that it doesn't bear the senses found in man, and it makes the visitor nothing more than a parasite. It's nothing more than cancer with a mouth. The visitor insists that humanity is more than livestock to him and his kind. He can create unique neural pathways to keep their minds alive. Eddie Sykes, he claims, is still present inside his body, mute and powerless, even as the body is disemboweled and the relocation process is prepared. Winters tells him he's forgotten one thing, however; his arrogance has made him stupid. The visitor doesn't care either way-- once he's inside Winters, all of their thoughts will be shared.

25. Keziah's body is ultimately located, but where?

From Quiz "Dreams in the Witch House"

Answer: In the attic of the witch house

Frank and the painter find Walter in his room and set him up in bed, tending to him while he sleeps off his fatigue. While they sit by his bedside, something drops from the leaky ceiling above and Frank decides to investigate, grabbing a lantern to see what's causing the issue from the attic. What he and the painter find there is a still-wet patch in the floor beneath a hidden panel, and inside that panel is a passage containing Keziah's long-rotted body. In a small box nearby is the skeleton of a rat with a small, human skull. Down in the bedroom, Walter awakens from his sleep to an awful sound coming from within his own body. The others rush downstairs and tear open his shirt to hear the heartbeat from within. It's not Walter's heartbeat, however; it's the heartbeat of the rat with the human face, bursting forth from his chest and killing him moments before sunrise. The witch has succeeded. As Frank and the painter leave the room, the rat returns to the bed and burrows itself back into Walter's body, taking control of the corpse and possessing it to live the rest of its life as a human being.

26. Stacey returns to work at the bank after her time off. What happens there?

From Quiz "The Outside"

Answer: She's admired by the other women

Once Keith is in the basement, Stacey enjoys a new taxidermy project, making use of her dead husband's body as an outer layer. She disembowels him before propping him up properly. Returning to her room, Stacey cuts her hair, puts on a sexy, new dress and accessories, and prepares to head out, leaving Keith's taxidermied body seated in front of the TV. She heads to the bank for work and arrives to find her coworkers amazed by her transformation. The others ask if she got work done and she plays a bit coy about it all. They all have to admit that she looks beautiful; it's surreal. As they gossip and laugh about mundanities, they all plan to go out for drinks and admire her new self.

27. What, according to Winters, is the one thing the visitor forgot?

From Quiz "The Autopsy"

Answer: The tape recording

The visitor's true form is removed from Sykes' body and placed onto Winters' as an incision is made in the coroner. Winters realizes that, without senses, the alien is incapable of hearing or seeing until it takes control of his body, and with that he collects a scalpel and attempts to destroy it. He's unable to reach, tied to the table, but he quickly realizes the solution is not to kill the being, but put a stop to it. With the scalpel, Winters slices into his own neck and then proceeds to plunge the instrument into his ears, deafening himself. After slitting his throat, he drives the scalpel into his own eyes and lets the visitor proceed. Winters' dying plan succeeds, unfortunately for the visitor. As they communicate over his eighth cranial nerve, Winters reveals that he's vandalized the parasite's new home. Though the visitor hopes to wait for Craven to return by morning, Winters reveals that the recent leaks to the plumbing will cause him to bleed out, deaf and blind, by the time that occurs. And worse still, the one thing that the visitor forgot was that the tape was running while he performed the autopsy on Sykes' body. Soon, others will know the truth. Craven arrives to find Winters' body damaged and dead on the floor. The only message left, printed on the coroner's corpse in bloody fingerprints, is the words 'PLAY TAPE, BURN BODY'. The recorder spins on the table nearby.

28. How does Nick reawaken the demon in Unit 36?

From Quiz "Lot 36"

Answer: He breaks its binding circle

As Nick crosses the room to collect the fourth book he breaks the seal on the floor and unwittingly awakens the beast there. It writhes to free itself from the body it possesses. Though Nick grabs the book, it sets ablaze, beginning to be consumed for the ritual. Roland, standing between him and the entity, is pulled into its tentacles and consumed as Nick flees the unit. Nick races to the hallway with the demon in pursuit, cranking the lights on and getting lost in the maze-like corridors of the building until he reaches the exit. He tries the knob, but it's locked, having shut and sealed from his last time taking out the trash. He yells for help only to be met by Emilia, standing at the window under an umbrella. Nick offers her anything in exchange for her opening the door, but she instead takes the broken padlock he gave her earlier and places it there before departing. Nick runs, hits the lights one more time, and turns the corner, running right into the demon to meet his end.
