"Born Again" is an appropriate title to introduce the newly-regenerated Doctor (David Tennant, replacing Christopher Eccleston). The special provided an opportunity for Tennant to show his reaction to his new body, as he proclaims over his hair, his sideburns, and the fact that he has (and can feel) a mole. Throughout the short, Rose is stunned and disbelieving. At first she thinks the Doctor has been transmatted away and replaced, and she asks him if he is a Slitheen. The Doctor argues that she saw him change right in front of her.

There, the Doctor finds the Face of Boe near death, but Rose is sidetracked and attacked by Lady Cassandra who, in a shocking plot twist, takes over the companion's mind to secure a new body and set free the diseased humans in the basement of the hospital building. Lady Cassandra is forced to take over several bodies during the course of the story, inevitably taking over one that puts her near death. They all end up reaching a monastery for the night, but end up coming face to face with a group of monks led by a werewolf. What results is a fight for their lives. Rose ends up captured and placed under duress with the other women in the building while The Doctor spends time with Queen Victoria. Ultimately they're able to save the day by killing the werewolf with a special device used to magnify moonlight through the Koh-i-Noor Diamond. Queen Victoria, however, is scratched by the beast (and, it seems, infected with haemophilia). When The Doctor and Rose leave, Queen Victoria decides to form Torchwood in anticipation of their possible return.

No explanation is given regarding Autrey syndrome, apart from the fact that it is terminal. Right at the end of the short, a little foreshadowing is provided to hint that all might not be well... the screen goes black and you hear screams and a patient crying, "Help me! Please, help me!"

10. "School Reunion" - This episode saw the return of what former companion of The Doctor?

I think this might be my favourite Tardisode. After the effects of the ion storm have severely damaged the ship, the scene shows a crew member just waking up. The sound of clockwork gets louder as 'something' approaches the injured woman, and at first she is relieved, but it quickly turns to screams as the scene cuts away to an ornate clock on a fireplace mantel.

It is a nice foreshadowing of the difficulty that the Doctor has in the episode "Rise of the Cybermen" when he tries to prevent being attacked by the Cybermen by volunteering for an upgrade. Instead of being accepted, the Cybermen call him 'incompatible', and continue their attack.
