Answer: Larry

He introduces himself when meeting the agents. The role was played by Jason Beghe, David Duchovny's old buddy. The filming was extremely difficult, so Beghe and Duchovny tried keeping the mood light with their friendly demeanor and jokes.

After the two other researchers left, Surnow entered the wind tunnel to make adjustments while janitor Roland Fuller remained in the lab. Roland then activated the wind tunnel, blowing Surnow into the engine. When Mulder and Scully met with Keats and Nollette the next morning, Mulder pointed out that Roland was the only person present in the laboratory when Surnow was killed, but Keats dismissed him as a suspect because of his disability.

But Barnett found out, and he started leaving notes for Mulder like the one that Purdue found at the crime scene. It said "Fox can't guard the chicken coop".

When they administered the additional shocks to Willis, both bodies jolted, although the staff was focused on Willis and didn't notice Dupre. Finally they received a heartbeat on Willis, around fourteen minutes after he had first gone into cardiac arrest.

Scully called her father "Ahab", and he called her "Starbuck"; both names are from "Moby Dick". After her parents left, Scully fell asleep on the couch. When she woke up, she saw her dad sitting in a chair mumbling, but she couldn't hear what he was saying. She told him that she thought they had already left. Then the phone rang and it was her mother, telling her that her dad had died from a heart attack. When she looked back at the chair, it was empty. Later in the episode, Luther Lee Boggs would also call Scully "Starbuck".

Scully asked Mulder about the cassette tape sitting on the dashboard, and Mulder responded, "I told you I locked the door". Mulder played the cassette, which told about a British MP who also received a cassette tape that when played, armed an explosive device, and when the MP tried to open his car door, the car exploded. Mulder looked nervously at the door handle, only to have the door suddenly opened by Phoebe Green (Amanda Pays), startling Scully.

He thought the crimes were related to similar cases involving cattle, and he thought extraterrestrials were responsible.
