Sherry Birkin has been sent in to acquire him, but she will need to collect. The problem is that these orders were given six months ago and she doesn't remember them. With the info in-hand, Ada will make to escape the sub but a catastrophic explosion will force her to find new means of resurfacing. A botched attempt at reaching the rescue sub will send the craft vertical and Ada will need to reroute the power in the engine room and escape via a torpedo. She has a plan, however, since she knows Simmons plans to have her perform a bioterrorist attack in Tall Oaks and then in China on behalf of Neo-Umbrella. She won't become the scapegoat, she vows, and with that she's off.

The Ustanak will chase Jake and Sherry to a warehouse and they'll have no choice but to fight it, blowing it up to stop it in its tracks as long as possible. They'll manage to lose sight of it when they fall through the floor of the building, eventually coming out into the city streets and meeting with BSAA agents Chris Redfield and Piers Nivens, the former of whom knows Sherry, tangentally, through his sister, Claire. After helping bring down a trio of anti-aircraft guns and two Ogroman B.O.W.s, it will be revealed that Neo-Umbrella also wants the antibodies in Jake's blood whether he's dead or alive. Before they split off, Chris remarks that he kind of recognizes Jake, but can't quite place him. Sherry and Jake will subsequently take off in helicopter but their fight won't be over. Sherry calls into her superiors to secure Jake's payment for assistance-- the hefty sum of fifty million dollars-- but they'll be attacked once more by the Ustanak. The battle will call for careful maneuvering, even requiring them to leap between aircraft, and it'll end with the pair jumping from the aircraft, landing somewhere in the mountains alive but not unscathed.

Happiness is amongst the other statuettes in the main room, Charity is in a chest, Sorrow is at the end of a puzzle, and Grief is in the bell tower. Once unlocked, the passage beneath will be opened...along with the Lepotitsa inside.

Part of Helena's motivation throughout her campaign with Leon is to locate her sister beneath Tall Oaks Cathedral and rescue her from captivity. The problem, however, is that by the time they locate her in the subterranean labs beneath the city, she'll transform into a Chrysalid and mutate, becoming a boss to be fought throughout the mine tunnels. The fight will end with Helena having to drop her sister over the side of a cliff, at which point she's never seen again.

Crash landing into Lanshiang and coming across a number of familiar faces, Leon and Helena finish the mission they set out to complete when they come across Derek K. Simmons. Unfortunately for them (and him), Simmons is attacked with a vial of concentrated C-Virus, transforming him into an awful creature minutes before the city is attacked with weaponized C-Virus vapours, not unlike Tall Oaks. All of this will culminate in a trip to the roof of a skyscraper in Tatchi where not only will Leon and Helena need to put an end to Simmons, but work with Ada to survive. In the end, the pair will ascend to the helipad, use a well-placed rocket launcher to destroy their foe, take off in a chopper, and use some safely-stowed evidence to clear their names.

It means assisting the pair in their fight in an effort to stop the most frightening and personal foe thus far.

Before the get there, however, they encounter fellow BSAA agent Sherry Birkin and mercenary Jake Muller and work together to destroy the anti-aircraft guns blocking their escapes.

Though most of Chris' campaign will take him to Lanshiang and beyond, his story will really start in Edonia, a small country in Eastern Europe where Neo-Umbrella has let loose its C-Virus as a test-run. He and his squad of BSAA soldiers will descend into Edonia and face off against an early wave of transformed soldiers, going head-to-head not only with massive B.O.W. creations, but all variants of created beings. In the end, Chris and Piers, his right-hand operative, will be some of the only survivors of the squad, the rest being killed or transformed by a woman who appears to be Ada Wong. Chris will go into an alcoholic tailspin until Piers locates him and brings him back into the fold to investigate activities in China.

The battle between Ada, Leon, and Helena against Deborah will take the trio deep into the mines, even bringing them along a complicated mine cart ride, until they can finally bring her down. When they finally send Deborah hurtling to her death, Helena will reveal to the other two that she helped Derek Simmons breach the President's security in an effort to protect her sister. It's one more odd point to Ada who, receiving a call, parts ways with the others and leaves them with a ring that they can use to leave the underground. Simmons will send Ada to the lab to find some new information and this will involve a tough route blocked by Whoppers and Napads of all sorts. When she finally reaches the labs she'll find what she's looking for-- a videotape with her name on it. Watching it, she'll find out what the others don't know, specifically that Simmons has created a C-Virus clone of Ada. She quickly deduces that this clone is the one contacting her, puppeteering Neo-Umbrella in an effort to destroy the world. Ada calls the real Simmons, lets him know that she's prepared for the worst, and heads out, blowing up the labs before she leaves the U.S.

Sherry and Jake hitched a ride out of Edonia on an evacuation chopper while Chris and company headed to City Hall and found a building full of cocooned people sealed away while having tried to escape. Chris, Piers, and Finn Macauley split off and head deeper into the building, locating alleged prisoner Ada Wong who explains the C-Virus and Neo-Umbrella's involvement in the current circumstances, supporting the guerrillas. It's shortly after Ada is found that the cocoons start opening, leading Chris and the others to fight against some of the strongest hybrid creatures yet. Finn is placed in charge of keeping Ada safe, but when she goes missing in a maze beneath the building, he and the others are quickly transformed into Napads with C-Virus injections. Ada, to blame, escapes while Piers pulls Chris out of harm's way and they escape intact.

Helena's real reason for visiting is to save her sister, Deborah, who they find in the mines below the labs. Unfortunately, Deborah transforms into an awful creature that the pair can only defeat with the help of Ada Wong, appearing as if from the dead to assist.

She'll step in just behind Chris, Piers, and the BSAA as they head towards the tenement buildings, pursuing reports of Ada Wong all the way out to the harbour. What they don't know is that the real Ada isn't anywhere near the harbour. Instead, as she makes her way through the night markets, Ada will come across the Ubistvo, a chainsaw-wielding foe who'll bring her down easily if she gets too close. As it saws its way out of its Chrysalid, she'll need to get away, hastily, and make any attempt she can to keep it at a distance. It's not altogether easy.

Six months after their capture, Jake and Sherry manage to escape their detention rooms in a Chinese research facility, making a break for it past armed J'avo guards and eventually reuniting with each other in one of the building's locker rooms following a stealth run through. As the two finally catch up, both having been tested on for the duration of their stay, Jake notes that he's had time to think about the truth revealed to him regarding his father; he worries that Wesker's evil may have passed on to him. Sherry tells him that, ultimately, he'll just need to take responsibility for his own actions and not his father's.

Chris and Piers will see theirs in Chapter 4 of their Story, and at this point they'll have to navigate the aircraft carrier's interior rooms looking for Passcodes A, B, and C to unlock a large, metal door. If all three can be found and input into the system, they can proceed and catch up to Carla as she heads to the upper decks.

His blood, however, will be the key; Sherry believes it contains the antibodies to stop the C-Virus. The pair's attempted escape from Edonia will be foiled by a massive B.O.W. known as the Ustanak, and while they'll nearly make it out in a plane, they'll crash down in the mountains and fight their way to a new rendezvous site only to be foiled again by a woman claiming to be Ada Wong. She'll be the one to reveal the truth-- that Jake Muller is the son of Albert Wesker-- before she takes them both into her custody.

Heading through the research facility building the sterile labs will start turning into a more regal establishment adorned in Chinese aesthetics and comfortable lounge rooms. Though the area will be infested with J'avo, the pair will need to locate a number of ID Medallions to proceed, inserting them into a giant Buddha statue to get access to the west wing (with three) and the comms room to the east (with ten). The comms room will be exactly what Jake and Sherry need since they can recollect Jake's blood analysis and contact the outside world to set up a new rendezvous point for extraction. It's not as easy as simply leaving though as the pair will be pursued through the building by a literal armored tank. They'll make it out if they can find a means of transportation, and they will if they can fight through the throngs of zombies.

Ada will reappear-- as always, at the worst time-- and she'll jab Marco with the C-Virus forcing him and Piers to put an end to him. This pushes Chris over the edge, blinding him with vengeance; it's something Piers is very candid with him about as they head south across the harbour in pursuit. Eventually, after fighting through a floating restaurant and across the waterways, Chris and Piers will reach the Vinci Medical Research Centre at the same time as Leon and Helena, both of them cornering Ada but facing off. While Leon seeks Ada for help and answers, Chris knows Ada's role in Neo-Umbrella. Leon's intervention will allow her to get away, and while Leon will pursue Sherry and go after Derek Simmons, Chris will vow to catch Ada. Chris recognizes, as he departs with Piers, that he's trying to atone for his past. As they grab an armored vehicle and pursue Ada across the city, they'll drive straight onto an aircraft carrier in the harbour moments before it embarks. There's no where to go but along with it.

While all characters can perform stealth attacks on enemies, Ada starts her story with a Crossbow, a silent weapon that uses specialized arrows that can, if powered up enough, do significant amounts of damage. This is especially important in her campaign as while Leon, Chris, and Jake all complete their chapters with partners, Ada goes solo. This means that the trade-off of support comes with a little bit of extra heft behind the firearm.

With those, they have a chance of creating a cure for the C-Virus.

Over the years, they're the natural evolution of (Neo-)Umbrella's research efforts, a human BOW with the mental capacity to fire weapons or work with orders. Additionally, many J'avo have the ability to adapt to damage, forming in response to trauma inflicted on the head or any appendages. A regular J'avo can, as such, transform into one of fifteen variants and keep going.
